With any luck we will be facing an undermanned pies side this week.

Pendlebury and Adams in doubt, Sidebottom and Reid both unlikely... Might be a good chance to catch them out.

Pendlebury misses very few games.
Very resilient footballer.

I think it's better to face them at full strength. Learning to play against good football sides is primary to notching up hollow wins at this stage of our development.

This is true, but if winning a couple of cheap ones in the first month give us an extra 5000 members, I'll happily take them.

Learning the hard way from the better teams can/will come later in the year....

I loved it when we completely destroyed an under-manned collingwood early 2009… would probably enjoy it even more if got over the line again this week.

Any win against any club under any circumstance is enjoyable.

True, but I find beating any of Collingwood, Carlton or Essendon just that bit more special :D

I can't disagree, although I would add Richmond, Hawthorn, Geelong, Norff, Bulldogs and Melbourne in that order.

Who cares if we play an weakened side. I know people say lets play the best players do peoplly think they mean that. They would rather play the crap players. Do you think the Hawks would have rathered play a full strength Essendon or a half strength. Im going half strength. There are enough tough games through the year that will test you.

Have to agree.

And I reckon it's a bit too early in the rebuild, and too far off challenging for finals etc, to be too worried about really testing our list.

I absolutely loved spanking a makeshift Essendon team in a practice match, so would be over the moon to beat an undermanned Collingwood on Friday

when we were a good team - I wanted us to play other teams at full strength because it was good practice for finals and exposed any flaws. Now that we are at the other end of the ladder, we have to learn how to win regularly again - and playing weakened teams helps that objective.

At this point in time, we need to give the young boys belief that they are on the right track - and that means pinching the odd win here and there. Id be happy to take 5 wins this year against weakened opposition.

Life is never more fun than when you're the underdog competing against the giants.
