Re: The Official "Stop bagging Billings" Thread.
Billings today showed why he was considered the best footballer in that years draft. This boy can score goals from anywhere, we have enjoyed some skilful players over the last 30 years at St Kilda, most amazing at field kicking but none were great reliable kicks for goal other than Plugger. None could kick goals from 50 meters either. This kid kicked them from the boundary, kicked them from 55 m, snapped them over his shoulder, kicked them on the run- he did it all.
someone else touched on how strong he is over his head, he is a brilliant mark for his size.
He is a potential super star!!

I said it last year , the kid just needs a bit more belief in himself. Last year he looked a bit rushed - like he thought he didn't belong. This year he is starting to settle.
I will call it now. Next year he will be massive for us and in 2017 will be in AA contention. Bookmark it.

After knocking off the Hawks GWS are like a millionaire in their solid gold car wondering why people are talking about the handful of pocket change they dropped. I love the Jack pack we have got at the moment. We should possibly only go for kids named Jack in all future drafts. Anyway that was one of the all time great drafts with so many good kids already.

Re: The Official "Stop bagging Billings" Thread.
I said that to my sister today gringo as we were watching that final quarter. I said The Pelichan might have had in his spread sheet we had to draft left footers (as did Port Power & Hawthorn during his time there) and we did just that.............. however I'm sure that spreadsheet said there must be a focus on players with the name 'Jack'.gringo wrote:

Ps ....Don't you just love a good old fashioned name as Jack??

Apart from one or two fools who just get footy I cant remember too many bagging Billings. He is good and you could see that from day one. Reminds me when I saw Dal. You can just tell the way some players move.

For those old enough to remember he has similar traits to ian Stewart. He has a great vertical leap and is very good overhead, has excellent vision and is able to drop the ball exactly where he wants it to go and is usually a very good finisher when shooting for goal. Like stewie has a cool head and a very sharp eye.Vazelos wrote:Billings today showed why he was considered the best footballer in that years draft. Yes one point...some of those Stewie traits are evident in his style of play.....we can just hope he can continue on to become such a player as Stewart over his career..that would really be 'the icing on the cake'.one point wrote:For those old enough to remember he has similar traits to ian Stewart. I was thinking the same thing. Seems to have more time than other players, moves beautifully and has fantastic skills.plugger66 wrote:Apart from one or two fools who just get footy I cant remember too many bagging Billings. This is the next thing for him too. You can see he is growing in confidence with his marking, he flew for a couple in the goalsquare last week that he nearly grabbed and I reckon he will be a real fwd line weopon for us.
Re: The Official "Stop bagging Billings" Thread.
This is what filled me with the most joy:
"It was a stoppage in the third quarter where you saw what Jack's going to do for us long term. I actually thought it was David Armitage, that was the intensity that he smacked through and won the ball and I think it was Schneider who ended up with a shot on goal. That was so pleasing for us." – St Kilda coach Alan Richardson
He thought it was Armo!! If we have Billings winning tough footy and Armo getting on the spread and McKenzie, Acres, Sinclair and Lonie who have both inside and outside game then we can become an unstoppable force no matter how much planning they put into us. Boy its starting to look good!
