Schneider and Sinclair
If as it says on the current injury list that Sippos and Marksworth are back in one week both Sinclair and Schneider will have to be dropped for a week before one can go on the upgrade after round 11 rule.
2 questions. Should we hold both players back for another week so that it is after round 11 when they come back.
The second question is who is upgraded round 11? Schneider who is in great form but wont play in a year ot two but could win us more games this year or Sinclair who is very promising young player and is part of the future but will have less influence on results this year and could be feeling the effects of his first year. Its an interesting call.

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
If I were making the call today, Schneider stays on the list, his form simply demands it. But a lot can change in footy in 2 games! We only have to look at last years 145 point loss to the hawks to see how badly that derailed the mid portion of our season last year.
Re: Schneider and Sinclair
As frustrating as he is, it has to be Schneider. The young fella's got a full career ahead of him and will be upgraded to the list next year.
Re: Schneider and Sinclair
Schneider will stay I think. Sinclair has had a good run at it and has made big strides, but his position would be coming under threat with Ross getting back soon anyway.

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
Great question Plugger. Sinclair reeks of class; we must do everything in our power to keep him. Many think Schneids is on his last legs - I have said it since 2011 but somehow he is now playing apparently injury free and up to his best of many seasons past.
Schneider is not the future but he is giving us so much at present and his on-field marshaling of the younger payers has been noticeable. I'd hate to be the person given the task of presenting him a Zebra's guernsey.
It is a dilemma, I might add, that I am pleased we have. Personally, I'd hold both Sippa and Markworth back another week given their injury prone history.

can we pretend Sippa is still injured?

We know Sinclair has something.
Time to see if Daniel has something.
Siposs, it's make or break isn't it?

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
What happens if we choose Schneider and then he rips a hammy and is out for a month? Can Sinclair come back onto the list or is it a case of once you've chosen that's it?

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
A big factor too I think will be how the coach rates:
Saunders
Minchington
Curren
Ross
Ross will definitely get a run once match fit, but where does Richo see the other 3?
Schneider has been providing some excellent linking play. Sinclair had been very good with limited opportunities at finishing things off.
I suspect that they will go for Schneider as he will help all the others to play better.

Agree, I think Siposs is gone.
Daniel might need to be rocked next year as a last chance saloon…
Had no chance so far...

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
You can't ask Markworth & sippos to remain on the sidelines for any longer than they are injured as they have worked incredibly hard to get their spot back. They both deserve the full opportunity to save their careers.
I think if Ray & Gilbert came back into the side maybe Sinclair would get the nod ahead of Schneider... We need experience in the side but it's also vital to keep getting games into the young guys.

Can someone fill me in;
Do we get first crack at upgrading our rookies at the end of the year, or can other clubs make approaches to a rookie??

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
Great question, Plugger.
Tough to answer, but it has to be Adam getting promoted as mentor for the younguns. Sinclair is gonna play over 200 games for us, he can wait a year.
More important than draft picks are players learning in the heat of the battle

If Sinclair is going to be a gun and play that many games then he may hold playing in the reserves against us when it comes time for his next contract.Austinnn wrote:Great question, Plugger.

But I think dragit has come up with an interesting scenario that if Gilbert and Ross come back then what is the point of also playing Schneider? Too many experienced players doesn't give the new players a chance to get games into them and the new guys are the future not the old guard.

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
Schneider has played in hundreds of games, 5 grand finals, kicked hundred s of goals, so no disrespect to Seb, there's experience and experience.
There are other vets in our team but it seems as if Adam is cunningly making himself undroppable by being a really vocal leader and guiding. Maybe gilbo could do that, but he's got enough on his plate just trying to get back into the comp. Schneider has played most games this year. No rust. Plus if you bring in Gilbert then its the same problem; who does he replace?
I'm not really a big fan of Adam Schneider but I'll admit that he's currently earning his place. And he gives us something which we don't have a lot of in our squad.
As far as Sinclair getting annoyed goes, he's already played 9 games this season, how many 1st year players can say that, let anyone ones taken in the rookie draft? He should be counting his lucky stars he wasn't drafted during the Lyon years!
I know lots of saints fans are loving the rebuild and want to bottom out so we can get more guns, but I'd rather our young players learn what it takes to battle at the highest stage without just being thrown to the wolves like Gold Coast and GWS prior to this year. Our new members and players want to see a competitive unit, not a bunch of kids with talent but no nous.
Let the future take care of the future, we need to sort out the present first!

Yes Lyon should have played more rookies during the his time - start the rebuild while on top of the ladder.

Re: Schneider and Sinclair
Richo and the coaching staff often talk about getting games into the young guys. Sinclair is one of those emerging talents we must continue to get games into. The vision is for the future, as good as Schneider has been, Sinclair stays on the list. Schneider will get his chance again if/when another injury arises.
