Agree. He was touted as our most promising youngster a couple of year ago by those in the know. Seems to have a great attitude too.

They're on the way we just gotta finish 9th first and then we'll have total bargaining power...

Many of us are concerned that Longer will never be that good around the ground, and that due to this that Hickey may be the eventual No1 ruck as he is more mobile and quicker and looks better below the knees and should be able to contribute more around the ground.

Hickey looks the better pure footballer, it's true, but he may not be as durable and tough as Longer for all the crash and bash stuff. Maybe when he fills out a bit, perhaps that is tthe thinking

The Hawks had several years of not being able to get a ruck on the park despite having heaps on their list. In reality you need to have at least two guys who are quality as it's rare to have two always available. Last year Billy played a lot more footy than expected because we had no other fit rucks. We will probably be very glad we have a couple of them in the future.

Interesting view of Sandy stats.
I know stats don't tell the whole story but good game from Eli. Lee is a lovely kick. And Saad is just nowhere near AFL level and is almost 26.

Really want Aaron Francis.

Backline of Goddard/Francis/Lee + couple smalls.

I don't know anything about him, but aren't medium defenders the easiest type of player to find? What makes Francis stand out?

He looks like the next Goddard (Brendan).

Weller's a fantastic tagger and can hurt the opposition on the rebound.
Seb Ross has a massive upside. A good promising midfielder.
Eli - been injured. Gee, you guys are tough markers.

Hickey stays. Longer stays too. They will be incredible. Do you remember 1997? If we had had Lazar and Everitt for that finals series we would have two flags right now. We need two ruckman, one who can play forward.
Again, tough markers. Wowee (not referring to you gringo).

He's s real pro. An athlete, competitor, elite kick, reader of play/marking, can play back, forward (kicked 4.5 last wkend) and scope to run through the middle. Pretty much a carbon copy of Brendan Goddard.

No club has 2 ruckmen now. Unless Hickey makes it as a forward both wont be at the club in 2017. Hickey is doubtful as forward, Longer doesn't even know the meaning of the word mark.

Last week Hawthorn had Ceglar and Hale.
Week before Brisbane had Martin and Leuenberger.
Tonight Geeling have Blicavs and Stanley.
Port usually have Lobbe and Ryder.

Yep and whats your point? One can play forward except none of them. Maybe Brisbane but they lost to us.

While I agree that it's harsh to write anyone off too early, you can only go from what you have seen…

So far I haven't seen anything from any of those three to suggest that they will become high quality AFL players, obviously all could improve greatly or still play 100+ games as decent fringe players.

I hope they all turn into stars.
