Free Agents 2016
Since the club has been on the record for the last 2 seasons saying they'll be looking to bring in 2 free agents around 2016, does anybody know who will be on the free agency list come the end of 2016? Restricted and Unrestricted? Do the AFL have a list or anything like that? I'm intrigued as to whom the club may start courting come mid-season 2016.

Re: Free Agents 2016
Not many I would be interested in. Hannaberry and Jack from Sydney, that's about all, unless they want to get the cousins together, but probably too close to Nick's retirement by then.

Well we sold the farm for Carlisle so it may look a little bleak on the trade front next year unless we can trade out
North Melbourne ruckman Todd Goldstein, Collingwood midfielder Steele Sidebottom, Essendon defender Cale Hooker, Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack and Lions on-baller Daniel Rich are among the biggest names on the list.
Sydney will get that contract done with Kieren Jack, and he's probably on the wrong side of 30 for us anyway, unless we were challenging for a flag.
Sidebottom? I'd rather us somehow get a deal done for J O'meara

Re: Free Agents 2016
Ziebell from North Melbourne any chance or no good?
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Think you will find we have plenty of dollars left in the SC so money wont be the issue. Ability of the players may be more of issue. No point in getting a 28 year old FA. Must be around 26 IMO.
Re: Free Agents 2016
Yeah I agree, but he will be 29 in 2016, we'd probably have to offer a 4 year deal to get him here (which I don't see happening) and when it comes down to it I don't see a wow factor in any of the others FA mids. I hope we still go down the trade path.
Maybe 2017 we'll be better suited and by then we may of developed our own mids

Re: Free Agents 2016
2016 is too early for FA's IMHO. We will not be a top 4 side until 2018 IMHO so end of 2017 season is the 'right time' for FA's IMHO. FA's are around 26 years old so we want to grab them when our window is just about to open. That's why I say wait until the end of 2017 before going for FA's.

I sort of agree with CW and that gives me the shivers but is JOM a FA anyway? I'm still trying to work out why he would come to us unless we improve a fair bit next season.
Re: Free Agents 2016
No he's out of contract. So we'll have to trade, thats if we have enough to offer, not sure that we do, and I imagine were not the only club looking.
Both Jaxons and MG have said he's a target, so we'll have to see what comes of it.
Also Fyfe is a Restricted FA in 2017, how much could we throw at him? Can't see him leaving though.

Re: Free Agents 2016
Yes sorry, JOM is not a FA but OOC next year, but this time last year, Sheil, Sloane and Kelly were all coming to the Saints as OOC's.ripplug66 wrote:Bunk_Moreland wrote:You go for them when they are available.citywest wrote:2016 is too early for FA's IMHO. Re: Free Agents 2016
My guess is not free agents but will spend money on out of contract players - ala Collingwood on Treleor.
I see big plays at kelly and OMera if remain un contracted
