We currently sit dead last on the ladder
We are bottom yet again with a percentage of 60, slightly better chance than slim of remaining there & a very good chance of finishing at least bottom 4.
Richo took over a club with massive list issues & gun players coming towards their retirement. In his first year we finished with the wooden spoon, second year we finished 5th last with only 6.5 wins. Does pressure mount if we finish last again this year? What about 2nd-3rd last? Does he get a pass mark even if he fails to achieve less wins than last year & with no signs of improvement?
I've got concerns with the lack of integrity with player selections & concerns that Richo doesn't display versatility on game day when things aren't working out for the team. He's seems very rigid in mixing up the centre bounce group. He doesn't inject a variety of players into midfield roles & instead pigeon holes many as small-medium forwards. A question whether he concerns himself too much with GPS stats instead of pure football observations. Let's remember he came from a Port club on the up that have since regressed. Clarkson's apprentises - Bolton & Bevo - look light years ahead of him.
I'm not calling for his sacking, it's far too early but I am raising some early concerns. I hope he continues to develop as a coach because in my opinion it's not only the players that had a poor night last night & require significant development.

Jesus calm down - we've played two top teams in the first two rounds. We won't finish bottom. We'll finish above Blues, Dons, Brissie and might sneak ahead of one or two more. And thats exactly where we should finish with our squad. WE over achieved last year and got some respect and teams are now putting more work into us. Watch how close they guard Billings and Bruce. The panic after two tough games is hilarous. We'll have a win next week and suddenly we will be on track for finals. We should be called the flip-flop supporters.

Who says Port are a 'top team'? Finished 9th in 2015 and got Dixon but this was cancelled out by losing Ryder and Monfries. They are a middling side.Bluthy wrote:Jesus calm down - we've played two top teams in the first two rounds. We won't finish bottom. I'm calm don't worry about that. More to worry about in life than footy. I'm simply raising some of my observations.Bluthy wrote:Jesus calm down - we've played two top teams in the first two rounds. I don't share your optimism. Blues look okay. Dons we should finish ahead of. Brizzie are about where we are IMO. I think we're certainly bottom 4, likely 16-17. & Port are rubbish too - 10-14 IMO.

Re: We currently sit dead last on the ladder
Yes port re a middle side
We are not
We are a lower side
So we have played a middle side that are better than us and the top side who will be pushing for a flag
Its round 2
Yeah sure we might get another spoon, but its early to be calling it in freakin april
Call it come 3/4 of the season and ill be right alonside calling the same.
Anyhoo, we'll pick the biggest forward going around come draft time and leave the best mid for someone else lol

Re: We currently sit dead last on the ladder
Since Jeans left in the early 70's no Saints coach has lasted more than 5 seasons (well GT had 5 seasons plus a handful of games as a caretaker coach).
So Richo is likely to be sacked at the end of 2018 IF things aren't well and truly on the up by then you'd think.

There's a man-child midfielder from WA named Sam Powell-Pepper. He's about 6"3 & 85kg. He looks about 25. If we overlook him or another highly rated mid for another KPP I'll vomit.matrix wrote:Yes port re a middle side

Re: We currently sit dead last on the ladder
Lol
Probabilty says sooner or later we will take the best mid
Its going to be a long season, a long frustrating one and im sure we will get an early first and second round pick,.
By the end of this year some tough decisions are going to have to be made.
Carlisle and goddard are obviously for dempster and fisher
So thats all sewn up.
Paddy and bruce cover roo and kosi, so thats the front half covered up
Im worried about mids and back flankers
Atm if steven and armo both dont fire and get clearances into the forward 50 we are stuffed, one of them goes quiet and its all over

Midfielder
There won't be many players with more class in the 2016 draft crop than Petrevski-Seton. The smooth-moving West Australian is crisp and deft on both feet, and smart with his hands as well. He is an early candidate as one of the first couple of players picked next season due to his speed, finishing skills and game sense. He mixes his skill with a hard attack on the ball and some flashiness in the air, and was named an All Australian this year.

Re: We currently sit dead last on the ladder
Our smaller-medium types are generally slow & have average skills. Hopefully Freeman gets fit because he's very quick. It can't hurt to give Wright & Mckenzie a few games. Both are quick. Wright a messy kick but is it any worse than a few others in the back half?matrix wrote:Lol

He's silk & probably goes pick 1 at this early stage. The other hyphen SPP is a raging bull, he's the guy I want.Con Gorozidis wrote:Year of the hyphens!
