Clearances

Post: # 1605928Post Con Gorozidis »

We have gone from 16th in the comp in 2015 to 1st in the Comp in 2016 in clearances.

This tends to indicate that IF we add some outside speed and kicking skills to this team we will be a serious contender.

Freeman for starters - but we probably need another 3 guys with good pace and good kicking.

Hickey was great after half time. wonder if he got a rev up from Richo? He was winning his own ball and giving us first use more.

Improvement thanks to hickey playing well and Ross taking some of the midfield load. Great to watch us have first crack so often.

beaten at half time - hickey, armo, joey, steven, billings, newnes, ross, dunstan all lifted and started winning contested possession - changed the game that was on a knife edge superb

Loving those stats. A fit Freeman will make a huge difference. Really excited about this bloke. If his hammies are right he could be anything. Nick Maxwell likened him to Paddy Dangerfield. Forty six possies in the two twos is very, very promising IMO.

Not sure where Freeman will slot in but it's healthy to have competition for spots. Darren Minchington has earnt his keep imo and I hope they don't make the mistake of dropping him after a bad game

Interestingly the formula of 3-4 small forwards that can rotate through the middle seems to be a winner - Lonie, Sinclair, Mav, Billings and Minch all spent most time up forward.

Was going to start a New thread on the small forwards rotating through the center. There has been a lot of questions about why we recruited so many small forward types... Seems when it came together yesterday (after loosing two of our tall forward options) the pies did not know who to defend or team up on, too many avenues for goal with too much place Could very well be the new interchange rules means Richo is a bit smarter than we give him credit for... Add Freemens outside run driving forward we could cause a lot of teams very big headaches.
