Billings
27 games and no free kicks against.
Quite an interesting stat.
Is he aggressive enough at the opposition or just not reckless and a really clear thinker?
Glad he has got through R1 and 2 ok and went at 89% today.
Was hoping for a strong start to the season from him but solid enough for someone so young.
Sadly he is the only young Saint I'm genuinely excited about.

Re: Billings
Probably just not reckless, most frees against these days are high contact. Next one prob out on the full, then your holding and blocks in marking contests which he isn't in many of anyway.
Don't be so pessimistic! Billings will be a star but others will come good, How long have all those gws players had? more than a couple seasons.

^ Couldn't of watched closely, touched it more than 15 of our other players and actually hit a target.

58 or so SuperCoach points confirms what I saw, that he wasn't damaging in the slightest.Griggsy wrote:^ Couldn't of watched closely, touched it more than 15 of our other players and actually hit a target.
A 'bleh' game if ever I saw one.

Re: Billings
Didn't dominate but when he got it did not miss a target. One of the few that is absolute class and can kick.
Will be a star for our club.

Because SC is reliable, might as well start racking up the 1-2 runs.
19 disposals, 90% eff and lead the team in I50, sounds like a more damaging game than most had tonight. Maybe he should have kicked it to the opposition more.

Re: Billings
I agree. He still does not get enough of it, but on a night when so many of the boys butchered the ball he was a standout exception. Superb delivery. Looks to me as if he had added significant length to his kicking.prwilkinson wrote:His kicking and vision are amazing.
Re: Billings
Both of his first two games have been meh...
He's coming back, but is yet to be damaging... And has made a lot of errors
Bont tore us a new one in the first Q last night
Billings accumulated a lot of outside possessions

Re: Billings
Excellent prospect however doesn't consistently impact games. Needs to play in the back half to find more ball. Would help us from turning over the footy coming out of defence too.
Re: Billings
I reckon he set up at least 2 of our measly 5 goals with a piercing kick that sliced open the dogs - and could have been more if players didn't fumble. He's got brilliant vision and backs himself to do the high-risk high-reward kick and pull it off. ONce he gets a really good tank I think he has to go on ball more - as long as his body holds up. If he could rack up 30 touches they would be 30 of the deadliest touches in the game.

Re: Billings
Are you serious?
His kicking was unbelievable last night! A freaking limelight of the team. I was watching with a non saints mate and he was blown away every time billings released the ball by foot...so I know it wasn't just my rose tinted glasses
He was close to our best last night when you consider scoreboard impact - put it absolutely lace out on a number of occasions

Re: Billings
A super game today. Four quality quarters. Got 30 disposals, and surely must have had 90% plus efficiency. I was sitting up on the top deck, and from that birds' eye view one can see how he makes smart decisions, and weights his kicks perfectly. A couple of very handy goals as well.

His turn and goal was ablettesque, knew exactly where the ball was going before he even received the handball.

Re: Billings
Was nominated as the player most likely to have a breakout season by the rest of the league earlier on this year. He seems like he has all the time in the world to way up his options & take the right one. Was disappointed he gave away his first free kick today.
