Dunstan and Acres lived together with a host family after moving from interstate when drafted by the Saints.

Selected with picks 18 and 19 by the club – two picks that were traded from Hawthorn along with Shane Savage for Ben McEvoy and picks 24 (Billy Hartung) and 59 (Jonathan Ceglar – rookie elevation) – the duo have an interesting friendship stemming from the moment they met.

“I remember being a bit nervous moving over to Melbourne the day after I was drafted and the night we got there our families stayed in the same hotel. I think he had a bit of a different upbringing than me and I remember finding him a little bit weird but the more I got to know him, the more I worked out that it was just him. He’s a funny guy and we’re good mates now.

“He’s a hard one to describe because he is a bit of a character. Sometimes we have a love/hate relationship because he’s a bit of a peanut and is hard to argue with because he’s dumb.

“We also played a game in the under 18s against each other that we’ve had plenty of discussions about. I think he ended up with seven possessions that day so I’ve always ripped into him about the fact that we won the championships against them and Blake had seven touches and ended up with a sore shoulder.”

Acres is St Kilda’s 24th Rising Star nominee since the award’s inception in 1993 and the fourth Saint to be nominated since the start of 2014.

St Kilda have had two winners of the award: Justin Koschitzke (2001) and Nick Riewoldt (2002).

Bit of backstory here. I was born in Melbourne, and lived there for 34 years before moving to Perth.
Blake is from Perth, and I can attest to the fact that Perth folk are a bit "dumb" as Dunstan put it.
It's how Perth people are. My 2016 Saints cap says "Member 2016", one of my neighbours asked me if that was my membership number.
You know the cricketer Brad Hogg? He drove past a racecourse in Perth with cricket team-mates, and asked if that was where the Melbourne Cup was run.
Some workmates watched the movie " Gravity", and thought it was boring because there were no aliens. Then I had to explain the movie to them, and they didn't believe it was not filmed in orbit.
I was off work for a day with bronchitis, and a workmate said not true, I should have been in ICU.
When he was in primary school, one of the kids had a bad asthma attack and spent a few days in hospital.
They don't believe Deltra Goodrem or Kylie Minogue had cancer because cancer ALWAYS kills.
"Look at McGrath's wife, she died!". Yeah, on the third relapse.

I heard the sen interview and he says he is now 192cm tall (that's 6'4" in the old).

Let's hope he fares better than Siposs. I think we can be pretty much sure of this given Blake has already had some 30+ disposal games in the VFL. I dont think Siposs ever went close. Even now.

I remember reading a 2 page spread on Siposs, he was touted as the next Goddard.
Lots of pressure, and sadly it hasn't worked out for a talented lad who maybe didn't tick all of the right boxes and develop.
Maybe dropping Blake twice this year will pay off, to ensure he ticks the boxes.
If you think back to Joey's interview a month ago, he said early on, he was in and out of the team.
He had to drop to VFL and work on his game.
These coaches have to learn a bit of psychology and man management, essential to nurture talent to get the best out of them.
