Re: Freeman due back in the devs
It sucks but I'm happy for Freeman to play in the development league for 5 weeks going at 70-80% before being picked for Sandy. If that works and he can play for Sandy and I don't see him taking long to force his way into the Saints line up.

Freeza is a 2018 project, if he comes on any quicker than that it's a bonus, if it doesn't work by then, it will be thanks but see you later!!!!!Goose is king wrote:It sucks but I'm happy for Freeman to play in the development league for 5 weeks going at 70-80% before being picked for Sandy. I really hope it works out, for the club, but mostly for the kid!!!!!

Sorry to correct you there BC, but Sincs has a corked calf. Corked calves I imagine would be a little bit harder to get rid of than a corked thigh.bigcarl wrote:This article says Sinclair in doubt for Sunday with a corked thigh. Must be a hell of a corkie

Ah, I see. Wonder how long for that kind of corkie?

If Freeman can have a good run with his hammys, he should debut for the Saints around Round 15 I should think, or a bit earlier.

Doesn't mean there's anything torn or strained. A corky is bruising. Implies he was kicked in the area.bigballs wrote:Sorry to correct you there BC, but Sincs has a corked calf. Recruited for our needs 2018-22 when we will be playing finals and threatening.Toy Saint wrote:So we deliberately recurited Freeman and Carslile with the view that they would not play in 2016?
Doubt it...
Available to us because their 2016 was in question.
Anything we got for them in 2016 was a bonus.

Re: Freeman due back in the devs
I can't believe they'd put him on ice for 2 years which would make 4 years before he plays. That doesn't make sense to meBackFromUSA wrote:Recruited for our needs 2018-22 when we will be playing finals and threatening.Toy Saint wrote:So we deliberately recurited Freeman and Carslile with the view that they would not play in 2016?

I hope patience is a virtue when it comes to Freeman. If it turns out he's yet another basketcase, then Ameet Bains and co had better have something else up their sleeves.

Richo has stated that he will be debuting in the AFL this year.

Not saying that he wont play until 2018, but ALL recruiting is about building a team for 2018-2022.magnifisaint wrote:I can't believe they'd put him on ice for 2 years which would make 4 years before he plays. Re: Freeman due back in the devs
With the year that Collingwood is having I'd say Freeman is a certainty to debut this season and to dominate.

I've had recurring hamstring issues and it's definitely one of those ones that plays on your mind.MC Gusto wrote:Interesting he alluded to the fact some of its in his head. Shows strong self awareness. I have faith hel'll come good
Can make you a bit worried to go at full pace just in case you feel that ping again.
Really hoping he can get himself right as he'll be an important player.

With Freeman they knew that they had to get his body right first.....so 2016 was always going about getting him fully fit and with his history with no rushing.
I would imagine yes that they will have planned that he play senior football this season, but absolutely they would not have factored in that he play every game, or even most games.
With Carlisle I would presume they expected him to cop a penalty, but were probably expecting in to only be part-season rather than a whole season. However watch the Saints play against teams like North and GWS with good tall forwards there is no doubt that we despertaely need a player of his ilk if we want to be Top 4.
The Club as per Richo's remarks this week does not want to prematurely peak too soon before all the tools are in place and e clearly sees the list of still being short of what it needs.
Would the Club have preferred that Freeman have no "hiccups" Yes of course. Would they have excepted that he probably would? With his history most likely. However it is crystal clear that they see no need to rush him and indeed are taking a very cautious path with.
Best thing is to just chill and think of both as 2017 aquisitions. And Freeman was aquired with a 2016 draft pick anyway and not a 2015 one.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

He has to run his way through it until its no longer a problem. The body's often pretty good at adaptingMC Gusto wrote:Interesting he alluded to the fact some of its in his head. Shows strong self awareness. I have faith hel'll come good
Re: Freeman due back in the devs
It's important he played some footy this year to start to feel like a footy player again and learn his craft on field. But AFL doesn't matter. Get some games under his belt this year, do a full preseason and he's cherry ripe for a crack at top flight footy next year. He'll have to fight to get his spot in the team as we are starting to get a solid roster of onballers who can run both ways hard for almost a full game and implement the high pressure game that is Richo's brand. Freeman will be a fair way off that. It might take him a bit of next year to fight his way in. And that's would be a good sign.

That is the exact opposite to what Richo said in a presser last week.saintly wrote:borderbarry wrote:If Freeman can have a good run with his hammys, he should debut for the Saints around Round 15 I should think, or a bit earlier.

You are garbage - Enough said

In all seriousness, I feel it'd be a major mental hurdle to overcome when the injury has been so frustrating. Good on him for realising this and embracing the challenge.
Really confident of this guy.
