Re: We did it to the Eagles once...
Quite amazing - same quarter time score as the Eagles
and like Kennedy - Davenport didn't kick another goal - finished with 5 straight all in the first quarter
Unfortunately we went on to lose that game by 3 goals - Eagles kicked 8 in the last quarter - Troy Ugle ran rampant
Also for the record we actually won the free count 32 to 30 - though that was probably the last time that we did in Perth
On the bright side we can only hope that history repeats and that we win the Premiership in 2018 and 2020 - like the Eagles did two years later (1992) and two years after that (1994)
There has been a few strange repeat occurrences this year - like beating Collingwood and Melbourne in Rounds 3 and 6 like we did in 1997 - there was also one game that got smashed by around 100 pts as well as losing a couple of close ones by a goal - all in first 8 games of that year
Omens everywhere

Re: We did it to the Eagles once...
I remember storming out of the house in the last quarter as they ran over us.
Craig Devonport and Daniel Metropolis- what a couple of Coodabeens ! Hardly the inside midfielder type.
Devonport was such an enigma. I was in Sydney and saw him kick 11 in a reserves game at age 17, playing on Mark Browning. I thought he was going to be the new George Young. Instead he turned out to be a poor man's Rod Owen. Still , we got a good deal from the Blues for him.

Horrible day that one, but by no means the worst...we've had so many shockers over there.Rosco wrote:Round 3 at Subiaco.stevie wrote:That game was in 1992. Then we had that really amazing streak of 1997 (proof we were on track for finals)-1998 (Gavin Mitchell free-kick)-1999 (Everitt going nuts), when we won over there as underdogs each time.
Now we've lost seven on the trot to them. Poor.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.
