Who the hell mentioned Pierce?

Longer is 10kg heavier and much more aggressive. Only after a contest.

Longer vs Natinui (2 games)
Hitouts
52 vs 61
Possessions
15 vs 20
Tackles
10 vs 4
Natinui not in best in either game

He's done OK

Why would anyone be taking anyone out?

A fierce contest is all I'd be asking for

Well if there's a physical attraction it's a natural next step.

Nice try.....except that it was not just Longer vs NicNat in either game. In both games WC won the total HOs easily.

So Longer averaged 26 HOs vs Hickeys 26 on the weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nic Nat averaged 30.5 vs 33 on the weekend.

Besides doing "ok" is not the argument, it is whether it would have made a material difference. IMO I doubt that it would as IMO our two biggest deficiencies were 1/ our mids and 2/ our defenders (who could both no defend or attack).

Hickey's game certainly was just as good as Longers and around the ground he did more than Longer. Plus this years Longer form has been dismal at Sandy and so for Longer to have done as well as Hickey would have required a huge form reversal. Longer has had some excellent games in the seniors, but he has had some crap ones too.

Yes, just Dempster, a 190cm guy who only transitioned into defence in the second half of his career. W......T......F?

How could the match committee think anything other than what happened today, would happen. Jesus even many of us slobs here saw straight away the danger with that. Will they put up their hand and say "we screwed up at selection"? Because by golly they should in the spirit of honesty and accountability they want for this team and club. It was a huge error that has set back the teams momentum and confidence a lot.

Roberton and Gilbert were thrown under the bus. Both Roberton (coming back) from a layoff and Gilbo is not a Key defender. He can do a job in an emergency if someone is getting towelled up, or provide extra cover, but he should not be the first choice on one of the best big forwards in the comp. It obviously destroyed his confidence (he shouldn't have dropped the bundle the way he did though)

I think the selectors and Richo got ahead of themselves and got too cocky and too cute, thinking they could use selection trickery to take on the grand finalists. But it backfired spectacularly and has seriously dented the players and supporters confidence this season. Lessons to learn there. Lets hope they do.

Richo, you wouldn't know a cunning plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord, singing "Cunning plans are here again!". Richo will be up against a good coach this week. Will be interesting to see who wins that battle.

SR

Don't think I mentioned dropping Hickey

I did suggest double banging against Nat... So he got crash and bash followed by mobility

Tend to agree Richo is a solid citizen and great for a developing club, but he has as much tactical acumen as Mark Harvey did - zip. The club needs to support him and make a change in his assistsnts at seasons end or they are setting another good prospective coach up for failure!

Yeah but he's got the tactical acumen of putting a great game plan together. Nothing but praise for Kingsley, and McPhee and Hudson are both good coaches. You need decent players before you can make the chess moves.
