Re: Changes vs Geelong
Dunstan should stay.
Big bodied mid important in clearances, as he does a lot of off the ball strong stuff to give Jack S time and space. Don't underestimate his value to the team. A lot of JackS kicks can be traced to Luke.

What about Lee?
I don't know if he got injured early in the game or not, but i saw him get only one possession, a mark.
Either he's injured or not up to standard. In either event he's a definite out. Imho

I did Lee an injustice.
I just checked the official stats. He actually had two kicks, not one.

Re: Changes vs Geelong
In my opinion you did Lee a greater injustice than that. Until injured he totally blanketed his opponent , Everitt, who has made scoreboard impact in other games. I agree with a poster on another topic here, in saying that the instructions of Lee and Delaney were to simplify nullify their opponents, allowing Roberton, Webster et al to provide the attack from the backline. So in my view , if fit Lee should be retained.saynta wrote:I did Lee an injustice.

Anyway, whatever line up it will be a tough game ! Go Saints !

So when Geary doesnt get a kick but beats his opponent he is a star. If Lee does it he is a dud.saynta wrote:I did Lee an injustice.

Lee gave Everitt (who has been in good form) a bath. That was most likely what he was asked to do. We had other guys doing the run and release jobs.
We played a good team defence and kept Carlton to 78 points from 48 entries.

Re: Changes vs Geelong
Anybody who thinks Dunstan should be dropped either didn't watch the second half or watched it through beer goggles.
Did plenty of heavy lifting, continually shot handballs to team mates from hard won possessions.
He was the crankshaft in our engine room but his work seems to go unrecognized by too many here.

Re: Changes vs Geelong
I am a fan of Templeton. Think he is going to make it at some stage. No rush but I see him as best 22 maybe next year or the year after. I would give him a three year deal on lowish money.
Re: Changes vs Geelong
Agree with Dunstan comment. Second half very good! In & under.

I think you will find that Lee spent little time on the ground.Con Gorozidis wrote:So when Geary doesnt get a kick but beats his opponent he is a star. If Lee does it he is a dud.saynta wrote:I did Lee an injustice.

I also dont ever recall calling Geary a star.
I think you have me confused with someone else.
For the record, anytime I looked for Lee he wasnt on the ground
I believe he might have got injured early in the game but came back on later.
His stats say he was a non contributor.

Re: Changes vs Geelong
Lee played the whole first half and gave Everitt a total bath. The game was over at half time.
Our team defence also worked well.

I'm assuming both Riewoldt & McCartin will be available and assuming that Tom Lee is fit.
Out: Pierce (good debut though), Minchington & Wright
In: Riewoldt, McCartin & Billings
NO DROPPING OF ACRES PLEASE!!!

Re: Changes vs Geelong
Totally agree, I'm sick of the ignorance directed at Dunstan. His clearance work is something to behold at times and with experience and physical conditioning the only way is up. He will be elite.Trev from the Bush wrote:Anybody who thinks Dunstan should be dropped either didn't watch the second half or watched it through beer goggles.

If you look back at all our games this year, when we have gotten right on top of our opponents, it has all started from Hickey & Dunstan.

He was a class above anyone else playing for Sandy last weekend, Billings included

I didn't have your confidence at half time but Lee definitely did what was required in the first half.Con Gorozidis wrote:Lee played the whole first half and gave Everitt a total bath. The game was over at half time.

Templeton is a tough little bugger and I also reckon he will make it. No great rush with him, let him keep developing wherever the coaches like but I like him.

Re: Changes vs Geelong
Billings did you watch the VFL game you have to be joking? He needs sometime in the VFL to be reminded that on occasions you have to be capable of winning your own ball and rum at full pace for more than 5 metres. He played like a Fiora reincarnate....coopergrech wrote:In: Riewoldt, Billings , Templeton & Shenton

Totally agree. Still only 21. In his third year and by year's end will have played 55 games or so. Not bad for a third year player. Does a lot of heavy work inside that seems to go unrecognised. We have a generational hole in our list due to the recruiting disasters of the Lyon years, which means that a guy like Dunstan has to do the job that someone a bit older and more hard bodied might normally do. Is a lock in my opinion. Amazed that people don't regard him highly. Gets in and wins the footy, has good vision and hands and takes a lot of inside physicality to create space for others to run. I'm a big fan of Luke.
