Gresh rising star chance?

Post: # 1630253Post st.byron »

Am wondering if Gresham is in the running to win the Rising Star award....

Anyone have any ideas on who else might be in the frame and if there's a clear stand-out?

Mills, Weitering and the dwarf from the Dogs would be the 3 shortest I would have thought. Parish, Petracca and The Gresh would sit in behind them maybe.

When you say the" dwarf from the dogs" do you mean Caleb Daniels?.. If so maybe you should get your facts straight...Caleb isnt a "dwarf" he is a short player in stature. He has the heart of a lion and is a very good footballer. As is his brother and his mum is a terrific person.

The Saints were deeply into Caleb Daniel. Picked Jack Lonie instead.

Gresh is and will be a better player than Daniel. Lots of over hype due to Daniels height.

Nah...He is good...
Finds plenty of the ball and uses it very well.

He's good but not as good as they make out.

First Lonie was better than Caleb Daniel, now it's Gresham's turn to be better!

Gresh is better Im unsure who said Lonie is. Nothing to say Lonie wont come back better after all he had the better season last year.

Daniels took a couple of short steps when they played us. Can't say I blame him. He's only little and could have been absolutely cleaned up.

All jokes aside (I was just kidding before) - Gresham's 25 possession game against Carlton was a beauty! And he's yet to turn 19; it's only his first year at AFL level!
Amazing really.

He is for a second year player.
For the record, I think Gresham will be better but he should be as Gresham's a first round selection. Daniel went at pick 46.

We should be comparing Daniel to Lonie as he went at pick 41. I know that we thought about taking Daniel with that selection.
Anyway, one of them is cutting it up in the seniors and the other is playing for Sandringham.

For Daniel to be playing as well as he is in the the Bulldog's midfield makes him the Rising Star winner for me this season.

Is he really though? If he was 185cm he would be very much run of the mill.

Look, you clearly have your view and I have mine.
He is an important player in a gun midfield.

Daniel is a little champ. don't think any saints fan would trade him for Gresh though, just as no Dog fan would want it the other way. Happy for us, happy for them.

I think gresh is probably going to fall into that 3rd spot.
1 Mills, 2 parish (undeserved and expected), 3 will be between Gresh and Daniel.

i think the only way gresh could win it would be if we made finals and he had 3 more games like the carlton one.

I'm sure they're all wonderful people and I agree he's a great player. Lighten up.

Technically, he'd be a midget anyway as his body is properly proportioned...just small.

In footy terms noddy Caleb is a dwarf. It's pretty obvious on the field of play!

I take it you mean 7 more games this year like the carlton game.

By all accounts, Daniel would have been looked at much higher if not for his height. Kind of like a player with pre-draft injury concerns, once they are drafted and start playing, I'm not sure it's fair to say they will be worse based on where they were drafted.
