Guess the INS and OUTS Round 1
What really shytes me about Round 1 team
Selections is they only tell you who are new to the club or debuts.
Attached is a link to our team for round 23 last year.

Clearly, Fisher and Joey are outs, but who else?
Likely Acres, Holmes, White, McKenzie
So that's at least 6 changes!

I think you have to have one more out from the JLT than in, as we had 23 players in that gamesaintbob wrote:From the last JLT game
INS: Acres, Dempster and Sinclair
OUTS: Brown, Lonie and Stevens
For me
INS: Dempster,
OUTS: Lonie, Stevens,
I can't see Richo starting the season without his trusty old pants Dempster. I don't think he'll be free to be this huge attacking option like some say. But he provides a clever, seasoned cover defence that is versatile on the backline if the initial matchups don't work. IF Hogan gets off the chain Demps could be used on him or just provide more deep defensive cover to double up and make sure the ball hits the deck. You could use him on the second tall to free up Carlisle to be really attacking. Demps can use his smarts and ball reading to make life hard for the Demons forwards so is the safe option for the first game. I'd prefer to make a statement and be more attacking with a guy like Acres but I don't think Richo will.
I would like Acres in there but I don't think he'll make it - there isn't room. Webster could come out but he had a really good final praccie game. Gilbo will start the season but needs to keep putting runs on the board or will be under pressure. Dempster will play this one but could make us too defensive heavy. Without Joey Savage gives us the vital run and gun from the back we need even if he can be a bit erratic. Boy it does feel hard to pick the team but Tony said they will rotate a fair bit this year so that will give guys a run which is brilliant.

Long not eligible round one and maybe round two (I can't remember) as he was suspended in last year's vfl grand finalOtiman wrote:In: Dempster, Long

Long will play more games than Lonie this year.

But I agree about Long playing more games than Lonie. Lonie is not good enough for AFL unfortunatleyOtiman wrote:In: Dempster, Long

Sam Gilbert is really important to us. I would always have him in our team.

Yet to be proven. He played well against the Swans in the JLT.Jacks Back wrote:But I agree about Long playing more games than Lonie. Lonie is not good enough for AFL unfortunatleyOtiman wrote:In: Dempster, Long

Lonie may be shaping up as a new whipping boy. We don't have one at present. Forgot about Gilbo. He would be the clubhouse leader. Geary in the clear as he is the skipper.

A club on he rise needs a Whipping Boy.
Initially I didn't want Lonie to play this week but considering it's the Dees and they IMO are a bit soft his hardness in the packs could rattle them and give us an edge in contested possessions.

Lonie may not play
Not good enough at 20-21yo... must be a good judge. First year he was lauded. A lot must've changed since then.
Milneys first game was at 21yo... Lonie has played about 25 games. Last year he took the piss in the VFL midfield, which suggests he can play footy. AFL confidence might come, if it does he'll be a good player.

I reckon Lonie's promising. A long way to go for him and lots of hard work ahead, but the potential is there. He'll get stronger over the next couple of years. It would seem plenty on here would disagree.
