Saints on Free-to-air
Who do we have to pay under the table to get a gig on free-to-air?
Three rounds in and we haven't graced channel 7 yet.
Only did it a handful of times last year as well (I know because I'm one of those annoying people always hinting for a stream because Foxtel is a joke)
How do the Blues get multiple games on free-to-air after being garbage for years, yet we can't.
Astounding

Re: Saints on Free-to-air
The only way to get on FTA would be after maybe 2 years of sustained success, i.e. win/loss % of higher than 70%The_President wrote:Who do we have to pay under the table to get a gig on free-to-air?

Even then, Pies would still get preference for TV even if they were bottom 4 and we were top 4.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

No because I can watch 9 games of football every week.
Hate Murray by the way, the guy's a fool.
Foxtel to me is one of the small pleasurs in life I allow myself.
I dont waste money on crap overtaxed habits.
Cant see the sense in not subscribing if you love footy like i do.
I also enjoy watching 360 every night and on the couch.
Never seen Bolt on fox.
Fox costs less than two packets of lung cancer sticks.

Lol yes! I will be able to watch it for the first half before heading to the game at Metricon, which incidentally is on FTA straight after the Saints game.sunsaint wrote:oh Saints are on FTA tomorrow in qld
Yeah!
Am watching Tiges/west coke on a stream then will prolly look at Cats/Dreamons on the same stream for a bit. I'm not rostered on at work tonight as they are saving money on wages this week - by a huge irony the FTA game tonight up here is the shockers/Bullfrogs game which will be shite so will prolly go to bed early and read GOT Book 5

You'll be happy to know Foxtel put their prices up by 16%. Yet foxtel subsciptions have gone up considerablyThe_President wrote:Who do we have to pay under the table to get a gig on free-to-air?

Wish they'd put it up more.
80's tech and an 80's pricing system to match. Thats what you get when a monopoly takes over. (which would be illegal in the USA)
If it wasn't for the anti siphoning laws you wouldn't see any games on FTA.
Foxtel in Australia is owned equally by Telstra (50%) and News Corp (50%) Rupert Murdoch's bunch
Foxtel sport is 100% owned by News Corp.
Foxtel now owns 15% shares of the struggling channel 10.
Channel 7 have as do other networks (9 and 10) sold off the the games that the don't televise including the rights that for the games that they so show to Foxtel, all for the ability to beat each other, not realizing the real threat of their existence is Foxtel.
When 9 and 10 had it they were showing 5 games a week. Last week C7 showed 3 games (usually 4). Fox also said there was the ability to sell off a 5th game to the other networks, Has this happened? No. The deal was just to make their offer look better.
If you have to pay for a subscription i suggest the afl app. I get mine through the club, which the club makes a small amount of money on, as opposed to foxtel where the club gets nothing. BUT you do need a good internet connection. I live 800 metres from the exchange so my adsl 2 is good. Otherwise optus cable or wait for the NBN. The afl app is reasonably priced and I use it on my 24" monitor.
Foxtels aim is to get as much money from you as possible, Dont fall for it. use the cash to pay off a caravan, a new car, pay bills, a block of land etc. One thing is certain they will keep putting those prices up.
Foxtel is for dills

I'm happy to pay for Foxtel whilst i'm employed. When i retire it'll be the first thing that goes.
2nd will be my membership.
3rd will be the Internet.
I'll then have to follow the football on the radio and survive on baked beans, probably cold if i've dumped Electricity.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

It's far easier and less costly to just watch it on the PC through the magic of stre4ming
