VFL Rd 1 Sandy vs Bombers

Post: # 1660292Post saintbrat »

Paul Amy‏ @PaulAmy375

Well done to James Sziller, son of ex-Saint Steve. He's earned a VFL senior debut as 23rd man for Sandringham against Essendon on Sat.

Hard to give all our Ruckmen the appropriate "St kilda" rucking experience. Richo seems to prefer 1 main ruckman rucking 85%+ of the time backed up by a tall. Hard to replicate that with four Ruckmen across two games.

If we played with that line up, we'd beat crap afl teams

But 6 will play or warm up in the afl

We wouldn't get close to any AFL team.

Devl game vs Box Hill -Hawks
Nearing 3/4 time
Sandy just in front after heading the Hawks early in this term
Hawks made a run when Monkhurst gave away 2 frees with behaviour learnt from his Dad- luckily the player didn't learn from his first kick and got 2 points for his effort
Monkton dragged

Heading to TBBO.

Could someone enlighten me as to whether Saints members get free admission? Struggling to find up to date info on the interwebs.

Thanks in advance.

Has anyone else noticed how bizarre Sandy's draw is this year?

Rounds 1-4 at home, rounds 5-9 away, rounds 10-12 at home, rounds 13-14 away, rounds 15-16 at home and rounds 17-18 away.

So much for a home and away season!

Fully agree. 100 %

The club seems to have forgotten our turn of fortune when Acres, Meatball and Wright were added to the team in the second half of last season.

Couple of kicks that quarter for Freeman. Playing wing which is a great sign if anything. Good break away from a pack then hit up McC - first I've seen him use his pace.

McKenzie using his pace off HBF. Geez he is a great footballer, he'll be an awesome asset once in the seniors. Gets the footy, can kick, can run, and is hard at it.

Essendon getting a little physical. Will be an interesting second half.

Minc doing well through the centre. Longer up against Bellchambers. McCartin ok on the lead up up the ground but not as effective when bombed into the 50.

Kobe too good for this level.

The presence of Dasher on our list gives me a headache.

He does well as a mid at Sandy and then comes into the seniors as a FP. As more of a contested ball winner my impression of him is that more often than not he beats his man and either kicks goals or creates them for others.

Yet when the tied turns against us he seemingly rarely is allowed to move up the ground and always is one of the first out when there is a need to scapegoat someone.

He's one player that I think we have developed really poorly. Would like to see him get a sustained run in the seniors, head into the square for a few bounces a quarter and even try him at HBF for a time or two to see if his skill set carries over to the quarter back role... on paper he seemingly has all the tools: reasonably fast, decent disposal, good tank, decent decision maker, ok at the contest.
