Votes Saints V Magpies
In a woeful game where poor skills dominated:
5. Jarryn Geary - strong play without errors
4. Dylan Roberton - ran well to create, took contested marks and kicked long
3. Jack Billings - ground play was good, but like a few others, he doesn't seem to believe he can kick a goal from a set shot and therefore doesn't.
2. Nick Riewoldt - not as dominant but still ran to spread and finished with equal most marks
1. Seb Ross - good work inside, best game for the year.

Re: Votes Saints V Magpies
Robbo was BOG imo
Newnes - great game (what a work horse)
Jimmy - tough as usual but his kicking was damaging to our opposition today
Gears, really important today
Member for his contested marks deserves a vote
Carlisle - best game for us so far, Gilbo and Nat Brown (great defensive work), Sebby was efficient and classy, JB (worked hard but just lacked finishing which will cost us against better teams), Bruce and Hickey also serviceable, and Gresh (confidence growing and love his poise in traffic).

Re: Votes Saints V Magpies
5 Roberton - ran Collingwood ragged all day with his sweeping and rebounding out of the back half. I think he was at like 20 possies at half time - insane.
4 Ross - big game from Seb, got stacks of the ball and looked the most composed mid out there. Impressed he's stepped up taking responsibility the last couple of weeks
3 Geary - that sort of of low skill game is perfect for Gears with a lot of ball in dispute. Was fearless, constantly at the pies players, getting to contest after contest with hard running to give us numerical advantage, took a couple of great marks and even gave a bit of dash. Great captains game.
2 Billings - if this is Jack still not playing that well, look out when he finds his groove. You can see his smartness is knowing where to be. IF he can start landing his kicking better he could destroy teams. Lot of people on this site feeling stupid today.
1 Members - thought Members was our most dangerous forward when it really mattered able to vice grip a couple of huge fwd 50 marks and kicked the straightest of all players
Unlucky - Roo and Joey - you take out their class and I wonder what the result would be - still a worry for us in the future. But its nice to leave them out of the votes for once. Newnes could have easily been in too but I still don't think he is quite damaging enough. He gets a lot of time and space coming out of the back with the ball and doesn't hit enough targets.

Re: Votes Saints V Magpies
Newnes -especially in the second half, his run and kicking really got us going
Roberton- read the ball well down back
Carlisle- very composed down back, very encouraging
Roo- always there when needed
Acres- becoming a valuable link player, and great in the heavy traffic
Mentions to Ross- got a lot of the ball, but the opposition mids got away a bit too easy from him

Re: Votes Saints V Magpies
I don't think Geary is eligible for votes though - according to the AFL website Team of the week.

Re: Votes Saints V Magpies
What an even contribution. Looking at people's votes and arguments. Made me appreciate the performance even more. Except for goal kicking which can be fixed - the play all before having a set shot was superb.
