About time you put your foot down George. I hope you have a great day and an even better evening.George27 wrote:The family was organising a birthday dinner for me next Friday night. I have told them "I love youse all, but I am going to the footy". Mrs George usually has the final say, but she has acquiesced this time. See you all at the game ! They shouldn't play the away teams' songs over the PA. I seem to recall them not doing that until the 90s.Enrico_Misso wrote:I don't mind hearing and laughing at the falafel eaters absolutely totally ridiculous theme song at the start of the game.
Just hope we don't have to endure it at the end.
GWS' song reminds me of this:
I think it was performed by Cat Empire, who are a bloody awful band that Triple J hipsters listen to.

Petracca got 4 goals at AFL. Essendon moved Hurley onto him.sabras wrote:Meatball out for paddy

But that is water under the bridge we don't get to pick again.
I would give Marshall a chance to play as forward / 2nd ruck.
Paddy ceased being a No1 draft pick the instant his name was called.

Jaysus.
Just read about Marshall. Never seen him play but he's 201cm 97kg utility/forward and last year packed on 10kg of muscle and is 21 years old. Sounds very juicy proposition. Definitely an option for this week given his good form for Sandy.
I'd be tempted to want him ahead of Paddy and give it a shot. A bit of a smokey but a country lad from Portland so should be a tough cookie!

i don't mind it at all, because it's both different, but still has that traditional feel, unlike the abominable freo, suns, port or eagles song. for what it's worth i reckon one of those clubs could do well to use 'when johnny comes marching home' as its song. perfect tune for a footy song.Winmar wrote:I still find it very odd that they play the away team's song. Really odd.
FWIW I think the GWS song is great!

Don't think he's been upgraded from the rookie list just yet (I assume we have one spot to upgrade given Dempster's retirement).saintspremiers wrote:Jaysus.

He also tweaked his knee a little on the weekend, but came back on, so he might stick around in the VFL for a little while yet. But he is a super exciting prospect.

Rowan is a huge prospect but at the moment he's a boy inside a mans body. He'd be eaten alive with the big boys.

When Marshall does debut, lets not through him to the wolves with an opponent like GWS.

The last time we beat GWS shows how rapidly we've progressed.
Round 2 2014 we beat the Giants by 7 points. Just over three years ago. Only six players in our team that day ran out against Hawthorn last Saturday. Riewoldt, Montagna, Gilbert, Geary, Newnes and Roberton.
