A bit tough on Wrighty. Roo must be up and about, because I'd have thought Carlton was the perfect week for a little rest if needed ...

Re: Team vs. Blues
A bit tough on Wright I'd agree, but it seems even if part of a winning team, if there's better waiting in the wings, or you're just off top form, you'll sit it out. Dunstan gets his chance, any midfielder not up to scratch knows Stevens is back next week.

Yes Tony74 has flagged that Richo very much likes his structure and like for like replacements.Con Gorozidis wrote:

Weller back, so Wright stiff for be squeezed out.
Stevens out suspended and so Dunstan is the closest like for like.
Personally I would have been interested in give DMak a go as he has been running back into form and the Blues do have some quicker players.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Seems Richo is going back to his conservatism after having success mixing things up. Goes back to his good ole muscled up, physical lads he hearts so much.
I think Dunny needs some time away from the white hot heat of AFL onball to work on his game. And I suspect he doesn't have full confidence in his shoulder. He was ok last week but seems desperation to recall him. It was a chances to give Minch and Gresh and Acres and even Billings some time onball to see what they can do. Missed opportunity and just heaps more pressure on Dunstan. He's still a young player and Richo has leant too hard on him for my liking.
Tough on Wright after being part of such a great win against quality oppo and scoring some really important goals. I thought that should have been rewarded. But in hindsight Weller was always going to come in as Richo loooooooooooovvvvvvvvvveeees him so.
And of course no Paddy. If offers come in, you can't blame him for considering them. Richo plays Roo sick and on one leg rather than let him have a break.

Roo is 34 not 26 if Paddy can't see what's around the corner for him he's stupider than most on here.Bluthy wrote:Seems Richo is going back to his conservatism after having success mixing things up. Goes back to his good ole muscled up, physical lads he hearts so much.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Changing tack. Is anyone not happy with the overall balance and structure?
As mentioned I am a little concerned on the pace aspect. Countering that we do move the ball quickly.
The midfield stays very deep and that is probably a good thing.
Will Dunstan tag Murphy or will be be a Ross v Murphy battle?
Forward wise we have many marking options, and Weller strengthens that as he is an excellent leading mark as well. The marking strength is complemented by many small options.
Longer will beat Kreuzer in the hit outs, but needs to keep him honest around the ground. Personally I would keep Longers TOG lowish and run Gilbert with Kreuzer a bit.' Though if the game pans out asa rolling scrum with many ball ups, Longer TOG to stay high.'
The Blue's outran the Pies and so we need to clamp their run with our pressure game to make them fumble and to prevent them getting their running game going.

If roo was to be rested....it would have been last week...looked sore/tired after double six day break.....should be fresher this week!!SemperFidelis wrote:A bit tough on Wrighty. Roo must be up and about, because I'd have thought Carlton was the perfect week for a little rest if needed ...

Re: Team vs. Blues
He's a champ's champ. Still valuable the last 2 weeks even though not looking 100%. Never thought we would rest him against the Giants, but looking forward to seeing how he goes this week.chook23 wrote:If roo was to be rested....it would have been last week...looked sore/tired after double six day break.....should be fresher this week!!SemperFidelis wrote:A bit tough on Wrighty. There are no "easy" games for quite a few weeks, although I'd like to see us revisit our recent form at smashing the Blues.
I'm just stoked we get to have a debate over replacing good players with other good players. In my lifetime we've never had actual depth, what a bloody relief the last few years of recruiting have delivered us.

Re: Team vs. Blues
I just hope Richo doesn't go back into his conservative shell and play a defensive midfield.
The mids really need to take the game on and run and attack at all costs..we need to be mobile and that includes the forward line- just move around and make targets, and kick goals.
This season we are going to have to be on our top game to stay anywhere in the eight- and percentage will be super important as part of that.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Would prefer Wright or DMac to Dunstan. Play Mav through the centre on Cripps and leave Wright to create nightmares for their defence....he kicked 2 goals didn't he?
Dunstan needs to rack up possies this week to stay in touch.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Team looks spot on to me. Wright was cover last week for Mav, and did not quite do enough to keep him out, and Luke the obvious inside midfield replacement for Koby. Very happy to keep the same overall make-up as last week.

Actually, he has to do what the coaching panel ask of him, as is relevant in the context of the actual game.fugazi wrote: Dunstan needs to rack up possies this week to stay in touch.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Agree it was like for like structural changes.
But last week was probably Wright's best game for us and he deserved a chance to string a few together. Being dumped back to Sandy again will leave him disillusioned and sap his confidence.

Re: Team vs. Blues
Stevens is way better than Dunstan, but Wellers inclusion is a positive.
I'd prefer Weller in for Stevens and keeping Wrighty in the side. But maybe against a softer opposition Dunny may do well.
Remember it's the first time he's played VFL
