Deleted thread - we have good reason
I just wish that (regardless of their possible gender/genetics/preferences/whatever) a certain journalist would 'move forward' re their apparent vendetta against our wondrous club.
False accusations were made against several of our players.
That saga dragged on and on and on, and then just kept going on... with repeated back page (and even front page) headlines, causing great and undeserved distress to several of our players. I wonder if some of our players, still haven't recovered(??????)
That saga dragged on and on and on, and then just kept going on... with repeated back page (and even front page) headlines, costing our club millions in sponsorship. And 'millions' is literal, not a 'turn of phrase'. Check our balance sheet. We still haven't recovered.
Finally, the confession came from the maker of those false accusations. But, that story (non-story it seems ) was hidden away somewhere about page 8!!!!!!
To this day, most of the wider public don't even know about that confession.
Our club could have sued the accuser. It was certainly called for. But our club actually has some class. (One of the many many reasons I love our club. )
So instead, our club provided the accuser with support, even with accommodation during a difficult period at their family home. Talk about 'turning the other cheek'.
To this day, most of the wider public don't even know about that.
Interestingly, one accusation made, that has not been withdrawn nor apologised for, concerned the real source of the accuser's agnst. That source used to play for another club, and now plays for yet another club much further north.
To this day, most of the wider public don't even know about that, either.
Ok, some of the stuff written in that deleted thread (and elsewhere) may have crossed a line or two. But, given our beloved club's history of sustained, painful, damaging, and totally undeserved media misrepresentation...
is it really any wonder that Saint's fans are now so passionately up-in-arms over this latest bout of all-too-familiar media hysteria, this time, over the fallout from Marc M's spray on the w'end??????
We have good reason!!!!!!
(Six question and six exclamation marks used, not five - in deference to Stoney, given that this is a significant issue!!!!!!)

Upper class versus the plebs!
The tax rorters versus PAYG tax payers who have no ability to rort.
They sit above the law as it applies to you and me because of their "importance" to society.
Hence the salary cap rorting.
And the financial state the Club fell into - and is still in.

Re: Deleted thread - we have good reason
This matter highlights what I detest about the Murdoch media (including his influence at 9 and 10 - then you have Stokes at 7!).
They tag people with names, so Cousins is always prefaced by "Drug addict" (which is an illness), the lady in trouble overseas as "Cocain ....." and the list goes on and on including our two best tennis players and politicians from the Political Parties Murdoch seeks to destroy.
And St Kilda FC and its players are not spared.
Those who escape this attention are those in Murdoch's employ or those who represent the Political Party he supports.
Including that he himself heads a Company which illegally tapped telephone conversations of private individuals.
A blight on society.
Growing up in SA, I saw first hand the "influence" of the Murdoch media (including in the Chamberlain case, where Murdoch had her guilty day in and day out with his headlines and doctored photographs) - and I note that the continual political attacks have lost their currency because, despite Murdoch's best efforts, SA return Labor governments in a one paper town.
Murdoch delivers us individuals such as Trump.

Thanks True Believer. I get that you don't know me. I get that this is one of your favourite topics. But honestly, if you want to try and educate me on gender politics semantics, I'm really not buying. I'm tired. The internet has been a horrible place all around for the last 48 hours.True Believer wrote:And to follow on from Dave

I don't usually bother commenting on this stuff. It is a no win game in a place where people mostly have pre-determined ideas. The really appalling remarks in the second paragraph of that particular post you reference really riled me. I'm sure you can appreciate why.
Go Saints.

Re: Deleted thread - we have good reason
I can just make very clear that any thread deleted was IN NO WAY footy/stkilda related.
The thread was deleted due violating the forum rules in a way that could not be disputed.
Nothing deleted from the forum was adding any opinions to anything of relevance to the forum or topics discussed. It was completely unrelated to talking Stkilda and Football.
I would like to stress this. MODS have taken great care today to allow the passion that binds us be freely shared, alas under the guidance of the forum rules. Following through threads today you will see this to be the case.
From that - thank you for a great post!
And thanks Kosi - what a day its been today... and you know it really backs up the point of this post.

Re: Deleted thread - we have good reason
Granted the woman you refer to writes for Fairfax - as does Vanstone - but I do not read either
What Murdoch does is refer to (for example) Cousins as a drug addict at every mention
The woman you refer to has the Murdoch trait and that depreciates from Fairfax, granted
What I note also is that the Frenantle player requested the Stokes network not to film him - and they continued to do so leading to the incident
So exactly where do the media get off?
Same as an intoxicated Fevola being given a microphone by a television network then proceeding to castigate him
No responsibility
The media may always have the last word but their reputation is trash
They make the old "Truth" look responsible

Re: Deleted thread - we have good reason
I would just add that generally and across the majority of its reporting, starting from Gittens who I do read (and do not always agree with) Fairfax has absolutely no comparison to Murdoch which is unadulterated trash
Then their employees are featured on the electronic media they control!!
If they have their presence in the written media why also in the electronic media?

Re: Deleted thread - we have good reason
Good summary DMc.
You make some good points re our negative media coverage.
But you didn't call out the ring leader - the so called "journalist" who has consistently spewed forth incorrect and unsubstantiated negativities against our club. Even when proved wrong she never apologises and just looks forward to the next opportunity to lambaste our club and it's "flawed" scandal plagued culture.
She has been and continues to be our club's biggest image problem because of her slanted, distorted views. She never misses even the slightest chance to bag us and propagate her lies in newspaper, online, TV and radio.
Somewhere, someway a long time ago someone associated with our club must have said something really bad to her, and like a maggot with a piece of excrement she won't let it go.

Ms Dals da bomb,
when you select the "quote" button,

what exactly do you do?
Do you move your cursor straight down to the line after the [/quote] thingimibob?
are you on an Apple computer?
If not, do you use Google Chrome as your default browser?
I have no IT knowledge, just asking in case it helps
