Here's a challenge for you - if we win today, try and make a positive post after the game - that's if you're not too busy watching or attending the Dreamtime match.

Re: Is the massive wake up call looming?
Returning to the subject of the thread. If we lose today, even if we lose quite badly, how is that going to be a wake up call? The Dogs are reigning premiers and have Stringer coming back in, who I reckon is one of the most underrated players in the comp: his aggression and confidence going forward is a key component of their swarming style.
We are an emerging team, with a really exciting midfield (saintsRrising will have to agree to disagree with me about that), a strong defence and an incredibly average forward line. The prospect of lining up on the 3 Ms - Membrey, McCartin and Minchington - will not be giving the Dogs defenders or their coach very much concern at all. I think the only worry the Dogs will have is that - because they have some of the same problems as us in terms of inconsistent kicking for goal - the game might end up being a bit of an arm wrestle in which the likes of Billings, Gresham and Acres might sneak forward and bag some crucial goals.

Roughead in and Smith out.
SO so much for the Doggies having a small forward line.
Boyd will play key forward along with stringer.....with Rpugh and English alternating

Stringer can play, but underrated? Surely a typo. Anyone known as "The Package" doesn't suffer from being underrated.meher baba wrote:Returning to the subject of the thread. I didn't bump it.dragit wrote:Soft bump…Johnny Member wrote:Hmmmmm
Why would this be a wake up call?
We lost by 50 points last week to a side that was 2-6
And secondly, it's a wake up call for exact reasons I stated in the OP.

It's bad enough losing without having to read your drivel. You're like the most annoying kid in class. If you'd been a character in Lord of the Flies, you wouldn't have lasted past Chapter One.

Secondly, 'drivel'??
Have you actually read it? Its almost precisely, word for word accurate.

Does it make you feel better about the loss thinking that you got it right?Johnny Member wrote:Firstly, you dont have to read it.meher baba wrote:It's bad enough losing without having to read your drivel. You got pretty much everything wrong except for the result…
The Dogs went in tall
Longer had 55 hitouts and 18 disposals, 11 contested, 6 tackles, 4 clearances.
To have a wake up call you need a result that you weren't expecting… after a 50 point hiding last week you would probably assume that this is a pretty expected result.
Looking forward to another genial missive about the crows next game.

Re: Is the massive wake up call looming?
The Dogs went small up forward - which as per the OP killed us and rendered our tall defence that has served us well thus far - useless. Tom Boyd kicked 1 in the final quarter - he was the only tall to register on the scoreboard for them. They outsmarted us.dragit wrote:Does it make you feel better about the loss thinking that you got it right?Johnny Member wrote:Firstly, you dont have to read it.meher baba wrote:It's bad enough losing without having to read your drivel. As per the OP, this will now be the blueprint against us. It worked - and we had no clue what to do about it.
We couldn't get the ball out of defence. We had no clue what to do with the pill coming out of defence once the corridor was protected. No clue at all. We've been worked out in that regard badly. Roberton is our only option back there to create some run. We seem to have neglected this position at our peril. It's the most important spot on the ground - and we suck at it. Selecting Savage again just shows how little weight we give it. Seriously, Montagna, Savage and Roberton. And we expect to setup goals how exactly??
Our 'bomb it in' strategy failed yet again. 50 points in a match. 50 FFS! 49 scoring shots and the best we can conjure up is 50 points in game of footy! The Dogs only had 58 and due to their small forward setup. We showed our hand against GWS, and haven't been able to score since. We've been worked out and have no clue how to address it. We've averaged 63 points per game since that night. 63!
The ruck wasn't too bad. Credit where it's due. Far from a strength and didn't give us any advantage at all - but Longer tried hard and was probably one of our best!
The result wasn't the wake up call - it's these areas which are glaring weaknesses for us that are getting exposed badly. It wasn't 'Oh but Carlton aren't easy beats anymore!' or 'Gee, Sydney are back in business now!' - it's us. We're s*** in too many areas and are getting exposed, and we don't have any answers to. That was the wake up call.

Re: Is the massive wake up call looming?
Just so we're clear here, these were the dogs changes…Johnny Member wrote: Firstly, the Dogs are going small in their forward line this week.
If it works - it's the blueprint from hereon in. I fear it will work.
Jordan Roughead 200cm - Travis Cloke 196 - +4cm
Tim English 205cm - Jack Redpath 194cm - +11cm
Jake Stringer 192 - Clay Smith 182cm +10cm
Shane Biggs 187cm - Lucas Webb 187cm - even
So an increase of 25cm over 3 players who either played forward or pushed Tom Boyd forward when rucking.

The more I read these old posts, the more puzzled I am as to how Richardson is still employed? How can these glaring problems remain glaring problems with no accountability for them?
