Do we have the worst handball skills in the AFL?
Do we have the worst handball skills in the AFL? Well based on the last three weeks we must.
How often have we seen tonight St Kilda players enmasse just handballing into the ground or feet of team mates.
When we rarely hit a team mate the judgement is often poor as he has an opponent near him. A chain of handballs ensue with less and less reaction time til we turn it over. Where upon he opponent mainly seem to then be able to dispose cleanly to a team mate it space.
Overall our number of disposals might not be much less than our opponent. But we just do so little with many of those disposals.
It is just so frustrating to watch.

Clean the slate, we need to get back to basics

They are way too fixated on handballing quickly, rather handballing well.

And Longer is probably the worst of the lot. There is never any thinking on handballi to advantage by him.

We are the classic 'Deer in a headlight' team. Its like we came off the GWS win like we fluked it and have been a shell of a team since. We are so over reactive. We dont spread. We get sucked into the contest but instead of killing the ball, we allow it to go to the outside where opp teams are lining up to kill us through the middle. Around the contest we wait for the other team to get the ball and then have no idea what to do once it happens.
Lazy tackling, lazy skills, no idea where to kick it too. Its either move it forward at all cost to no one or if we do move it sideways or kick out of our D50 its sooooo sloooow. How many times looking down the camera, all our players are being manned up and we have no one to kick it too. The other way, the opp have multiple options to move the ball out of our F50. Forget the game plan as currently we are just barely hanging on to stay in the game. Its all above the shoulders. We have not got our heads in the game.

Most our players can't handball or kick a ball to a target to save their bloody lives. These are fundamentals skills. WTF is wrong with this team?!?!

Can Longer kick the bloody ball? Coz he sure as hell can't handball. His attempted handballs are telegraphed to the opposition.saintsRrising wrote:And Longer is probably the worst of the lot. There is never any thinking on handballi to advantage by him.

It's absolutely a confidence issue, their skills and decision making have gone to water the past three games.stkfc1 wrote:We are the classic 'Deer in a headlight' team. Confidence plays a part.
But we lack good skills in this area.
We make the mistake of rating the team on their best quartets when everything comes off rather than on how they noramally play. And our normal is not good and our bad is dismal.
