AFL should suspend Ross Lyon this week
The tanking fool is at it again.
Assuming Freo are half arsed against Essendon, there goes any minuscule chance of Freo even being competitive.
Freo tanked against Richmond.
Time for the AFL to make a stand against this lunatic

Re: AFL should suspend Ross Lyon this week
What a ridiculous comment. Have you looked at the ladder
They are 8 points above their nearest rival and 2 below Collingwood (all other teams out of reach). Do you really think that moving up 1 pick is going to inspire that tactic?

Not tanking.
He just can't coach.
He is a myth.
Sooner or later the football media will cotton on.
We had 13 AA players on our list in 2009. Think about it.
13 AA.
An average coach would have won a flag with that side.
A good coach two.
Three losses over 100 points this season. That is atrocious.

Yes we did have 13AA players on the list at the time, but the rest? Robert Eddy got a game in a Grand Final, so did Peake, Jones & McQualter. I think Jones would've been a champion if he could kick (but he couldn't), but the others?Con Gorozidis wrote:Not tanking.

Lyon can Coach, put him charge of GWS and they'd be unbeatable.
We all lament the bounce that evaded Milney in the 2010 GF. However, if it weren't for Lyon we wouldn't have got anywhere near them. His coaching in the second half of the first 2010 GF was genius, Collingwood had been a Tsunami demolishing everything in their way for the second half of that season. He found a way to break them down when at half time they looked like they were going to blow us to pieces.
Freo (with their list) had no right to win 8 games this year.

Re: AFL should suspend Ross Lyon this week
Some of our supposed AA graders got beaten in those finals and that's one reason we didn't come out of it with another premiership, though Lyon is a particular kind of coach who is good at refining what's there, not building it.

He'll try to bail out now that the writing's on the wall. Will probably get another five year deal to go and coach GCS. Current contract? What contract?
I think you're pretty tough, don't I?

Well, let's hope he finds something this week. He pulled half the team when Kosi, Milne and Blake retired. He owes it to Roo to send a full team with a head of steam up ready to dump those injectors out of the 8 ...

Do you really think GWS players would be happy kicking 6-8 goals a week?Linton Lodger wrote:

If as expected Freo lose by over 100 points against the Druggies that would match our effort in 1985!
Beno - is that the last time there has been 3 consecutive 100 point losses?

Re: AFL should suspend Ross Lyon this week
Is it odd that the talk in WA is for the Eagles coach to be sacked, not Freo's. I suspect Ross the Boss will not last long into 2018, he has developed nothing and used up Sandilands and Fyfe and Freo play crap footy. I am guessing he will resign to spend more time with his family rather than wait to be axed. I think he has made a lot of enemies in the media, burnt a lot of players and Committee-persons but will still try to market the persona of someone who knows much more than whoever he is talking to, and would be doing another club a favour by allowing it to hire him. Concurrently, he may not have contacted Collingwood personally but I bet discrete inquiries were made on his behalf and that one of his touts is also visiting the Gold Coast.

Some friends in Perth said that the general consensus in Perth is that WCE has failed dismally after being beaten in a final last year,Yorkeys wrote:Is it odd that the talk in WA is for the Eagles coach to be sacked, not Freo's. and they are annoyed about Simpson picking up Petrie and Sam Mitchell, 2 players in twilight of their careers; Simpson thinking that
he can just get 2 oldies and that would get them into the 8. He is a coach in denial, apparently, and the Perthies are angry.
Perth folk have long abandoned Lyon and know Freo has crumbled on his watch,
and they would rather ignore Ro$$ and all jump over Simpson and get mad at him en masse.
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: AFL should suspend Ross Lyon this week
The difference is expectation. Freo tipped to be bottom 4 this year, West Coast expected to be top 4, pushing for a premiership. Simpson has failed miserably and will be lucky to keep his job.

In a 2-team town like Perth, the media just focuses on the flavour of the month.
Freo's plight is uninteresting because of exactly what dragit said.

Old Rossy boy won't be sticking around Freo very long if a big rebuild needs to take place there. He'll jump ship at the first opportunity. Did the same with the Saints.

Actually I reckon the difference in the 2010 GF draw was Gardiner's injury. We were top heavy going into theLinton Lodger wrote:Yes we did have 13AA players on the list at the time, but the rest? THis stat was mentioned on SEN last night on Finey and Peaky's show. Yes, if they lose by 100 for the third match in a row it will equal our unwanted record in the first 3 rounds of 1985. Finey said after two rounds we had a % of only 27, and 34 after round 3!saintspremiers wrote:If as expected Freo lose by over 100 points against the Druggies that would match our effort in 1985!

Even more unbelievably he said that we actually won a game in only round 5 - just two weeks after losing by over 100 points three weeks in a row. I remember that game actually, a hot day at VFL Park against Fitzroy,

GT couldn't get past the prelims - there's what an average coach did with that side. Probably an even better side.

True but also factor in injury management which was appalling at the time. The inside knowledge I have confirmed that point.Spinner wrote:Con Gorozidis wrote:Not tanking.

Had the average coach in GT had a few more guns available he would've been a flag winning coach, such was the sheer talent in the side.
Hanmys happened almost weekly and there was absolutely zero data collection to help manage it and prevent reoccurrence
With injury management circa Saints 2004/5 now we'd be bottom 4
