Whitfield
With all the talk of Kelly coming or not, as much as I would like him in the rw&b, Whitfield seems like a more likely candidate.
The question is, what will it cost us in terms of a trade? What would be his value? Picks 7 or 8, or both? Future 1st rounder? A pick and a player?
Or should we be targeting both Kelly and Whitfield as a package? Something like picks 8 and future 1st round, plus a player(s) like hickey/Lonie or both?
IMO, the Dream trade is
Picks 8 and 2018 1st round, plus hickey and Lonie
For
Kelly, Whitfield and 2017 second round pick.

Re: Whitfield
I'd be happy with Whitfield.
But I wouldn't sell the farm for him.
Pick 8 is fair. No more.

Re: Whitfield
Hickey might get us a 2nd rounder, Lonie is every chance to get delisted, so those together don't add up to much.
I can't see GWS losing both, one will go and the other will get a nice deal to stay.
If we were going to score both, it would take 3 first round picks, both from 17 and our 18 pick.

Well he is currently contracted, so we would have to pay what he gets now, not really sure what that is: maybe $500-$550k per year, just guessing though!!!!!

Re: Whitfield
Only issue with that is, with the rules on trading future picks, we would have to use at least 2 1st rounders in a 4 year span. Geelong had to get special permission to trade future 2017 1st rounder to get in Touhy as they hadn't used a pick in 2015 or 2016.St Chris wrote:Hickey might get us a 2nd rounder, Lonie is every chance to get delisted, so those together don't add up to much.

Let's just load up on draft Intel.
If that means paying for external consultants then we should pay up.

Re: Whitfield
The AFL has waivered on that rule. Apparently that rule is no longer being introduced until 2019....still making rules on the run!!!diddley wrote:Only issue with that is, with the rules on trading future picks, we would have to use at least 2 1st rounders in a 4 year span. Tend to agree. On a night when the hard ball gets won the game, he and a heap of GWS players went missing last night.stonecold wrote:Whitfield is over-rated, full stop!!!!!
