I thought Ben Long played his best game for the club today. I love his dash, has really good hands, and his defensive game is fantastic, could be really valuable for us going forward...

Got better in the last quarter, but lacked composure for 3/4s and disposed too quickly and to the wrong or even no options. Even the around the corner goal he kicked in the last should have been a handball to 35 streaming towards goal with space in front. Hope he improves.

Cyril was smashing it and was a great player in their premiership in 08 which was his first year.

Long showed tonight he has the tools (speed, skill and pressure acts) to make it. Yeah he made some mistakes but with more confidence and games he will be a ripper. Charlie Cameron took a lot of patience early on and now the clubs are being rewarded as we will be with Long.

No reason to drop him for the North game.

More game time will bring more composure.

This is Long's 2nd year!! Not Cyril's fault that Long couldn't get a game in his 1st year. Cyril was a key player in a premiership team in his 1st year.

Long, so far, appears out of his depth. He panics and makes poor decisions. Was baffled as to why he got a game today but Richo is obsessed with the 'pressure fwd' whereas I believe that all the fwds should be capable of applying pressure, either in the air or when it hits the ground. Sadly, at the moment, we aren't able to.

Daniel?????

Daniel was a key player in his 2nd year in a premiership team. I wasn't sure how he went 1st year and thought you must have been asking a trick question which somehow backed up your argument. So I googled how he went.

He made his AFL debut in round 1 of the 2016 AFL season in a victory against the club's traditional rival Carlton at the MCG.[9] He did not play the following week, sitting out one match with a minor leg injury.[10] Rioli kicked his first career goal in his next match, a round 3 loss to Adelaide.[11] He missed another match in round 9, this time to travel home because of an illness in the family.[12] At the mid-season bye he had played 10 of a possible 12 matches and kicked six goals over that span.[13] He missed two matches after the bye, this time in rounds 14 and 15 before returning in round 16 and remaining in the side for the final eight matches of the season.[13] Rioli won nomination for the 2016 AFL Rising Star award after a 16 disposal, four tackle and two goal performance in the club's round 22 loss to St Kilda.[14] He finished his debut season having played 18 matches and kicking a club sixth-best 13 goals.[11] He also finished ranked sixth at the clubs for tackles and was awarded the Cosgrove-Jenkins Award as Richmond's best first-year player.

So Daniel in his first year played nearly every game for his club and won best 1st year player.

So you've used two aboriginal players who play a similar position to Long. And both those players you have used to back up your argument, absolutely SMASH Long at the same time in their careers. Not sure what your point is. Unless you're agreeing with me?

showed a little but decision making generally below average to poor and goes to ground too much

Showed he is not too far off and may make it but the jury is well and truly still out

Long played well and better than I expected. I have never rated him but today was very promising. There is a reason why the coaches want him
