Gilligan wants to do experiments on us
Heard him on SEN saying they’re considering rules trials in three home and away games that won’t affect the finals.
That’s how bad we are going. We’re guinea pigs.
Personally wouldn’t have a problem with it. It might even add a bit of a spark to those fixtures.

All for it. Would be worth doing as we might win.

Good news. Only happened because Gill reads SS and a poster in another thread complained we weren't mentioned enough on AFL.com. There you go.

Six subs no interchange.
No further rule changes needed.
That would change things permanently.

You can’t just say all of a sudden, these games don’t count. If the AFL decides it’s not a real game, I’d be wanting a refund on my membership.

It would be a real game, for premiership pointskosifantutti wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 4:06pm You can’t just say all of a sudden, these games don’t count. If the AFL decides it’s not a real game, I’d be wanting a refund on my membership.

How about two subs, no interchange. AKA a 19th and 20th man. That would open it up.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 3:55pm Six subs no interchange.

Played under different rules to the other games. They’re making a call that certain games don’t matter, so we can play under different rules.bigcarl wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 4:43pmIt would be a real game, for premiership pointskosifantutti wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 4:06pm You can’t just say all of a sudden, these games don’t count. Re: Gilligan wants to do experiments on us
True, but both sides would be playing under the same rules. Anyhow, there may be a financial incentive for the club.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 4:49pmPlayed under different rules to the other games. i heard they will tie coloured ribbons to each guy's shorts,
so instead of tackling, you just pull off the ribbon.

Re: Gilligan wants to do experiments on us
Whether we’re involved or not, this is a horrid idea.
Every game means something. There are no such things as dead rubbers.
We’ve got the best part of 20 blokes uncontracted for next season, do you think they’re happy to play made up rules?? If the 30% win rate clause in Richo’s contract is true, should that be decided in a trial game??
Take Nath Freeman, plays another good VFL game this week, he is primed for a debut against the dogs next week, and Gil decides that game is a “dead rubber”. There no chance the club brings him for a game with a “trial” of reduced rotations.

No different to most final Round matches.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 6:40pm i heard they will tie coloured ribbons to each guy's shorts,

Remember two years ago when we played Brissie in the final round?
I think Roo kicked more goals than the total amount of tackles for the game.

Re: Gilligan wants to do experiments on us
Let’s make Gilligan coach then, at least we won’t have to watch Richo’s poor excuse for a game plan.
It might just give the players the freedom to actually just play football, rather than guarding space and playing boring footy!!!

Simon Lethlean should have tried 'zoning' a couple of years ago.
You know, he shoulda kept that female staffer in the 'friendzone'.

Re: Gilligan wants to do experiments on us
For a club that is the perennial underdog, do we need to adopt the attitude of taking any opportunity to get a free leg up our master allows us?
Isn't this trial game a prime opportunity to get a jump start on the comp with some rule changes that are seeking to significantly alter the way the game is styled?
My integrity compass appears biased.
