We will almost definitely beat Norf
With a decent chance that Richo won’t be around next year due to board and CEO change, I reckon the players are up and about and have some mental freedom at last.
Norf will be flat as a tac now they can’t make the 8.
They are ripe for a picking and we will clean them up.
Bring on the “New Saints” 2019 version

Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
I am glad that Norf is out of the 8.
Even if Cats lose to the Suns next week (!)
Norf's % is so far below the Cats, that Norf has to hope the Suns beat Cats by 300 points.
I hate Norf because the Scott crim is their coach. Can't forgive bumping Rooey

Norf derailed our season?
More like, the Saints derailed their own season.

Fair enough.
I just meant I thought we’d play finals before that game

Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
That would be a bad outcome for us. Another close loss will be best. If we win we drop a draft pick from 3 to 4. Factor in a couple of priority picks for blues and suns it means we will drop from 5 to 6. Smith and luminous will be gone by then and probably rankine. That leaves the king twins and Smith and we will get who ever is left as opposed to having a choice. I think we will get the broken king as he is already doing rehab with us

I went to two of our practice games and could not believe how ordinary we looked. So my bubble for the season never got inflated...

I cannot see the AFL giving priority picks in this manner.
What the Blues, GC, and indeed the Saints most need are players more capable of playing now.
While there may be pp at the end of Round 1, it would not surprise me if there is also a separate draft before the main draft where Blues, GC and possibly Saints will be able to select from players not on lists who are say at least 19/20 + who have been passed over in previous drafts. (ie not the kids who will be eligible.
That will give these clubs earlier access to players like Kelly etc who are in the draft each year, but which these clubs might be reluctant to use any early-ish picks on.
Such players might also be given as extras. ie Say another 1 or 2 places on the list.

Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
How can Carlton argue for a priority pick when they supposedly have more top-20 draft picks than any AFL rival except GWS ???Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 11:49amI believe current thoughts are:prwilkinson wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 11:41amHopefully the priority picks given will be at the end of the first round.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 9:39am That would be a bad outcome for us. North can't make the eight but a loss could see them improve their draft position by two places , if the crows and druggies win.
Wouldn't surprise me if scott tried players in different roles .

If that is what the AFL decides then they have lost the plot. Not justified at all. There would be a riot amongst the other clubs, at least there should be.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 11:49amI believe current thoughts are:prwilkinson wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 11:41amHopefully the priority picks given will be at the end of the first round.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 20 Aug 2018 9:39am That would be a bad outcome for us. Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
Won't they want Brown to win the Coleman, and in any case can we play two try hard games in a row - doubtful on a Sunday arvo before hols. Win would be nice but, and who can predict draft outcomes; the pick we get will be a talent regardless. I don't think we will be backed into favouritism and will leave 2018 with a whimper. Hope I am wrong.

Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
Couldn't see North tanking , trying to attract Gaff and after maximising performance to be able to be equal of any team outside the 8 is appealing.
Cant afford to drop another draft position, spewing GC didn't win Saturday

Re: We will almost definitely beat Norf
Just a thought, we missed the 8 last year by one game but still could still not attract any A graders to the club, my point is that 1 reasonable hopeful pie in the sky draft pick is not going to make a world of difference.
