Prospect is really one to keep an eye on. He could be anything.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

He can now amp it up to 11
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

I agree. Very exciting prospect and the question to me is whether he’s a key forward or a ruckman. And if he’s a key forward, where does it leave McCartin?tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Fri 26 Oct 2018 6:26pm Prospect is really one to keep an eye on. He could be anything.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Agreed it's time to Holla for a Marshall
Let's hope he actually gets picked for a regular spot and not just an injury backup
Pierce and Marshall will make a good combo

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
We need to temper the optimism with a bit of reality though - we lost our last six games that these guys played in tandem together - and we only really challenged in one of those matches.
I agree that they both presented well, and Marshall looks a likely type to switch between the forward line and the ruck, but let's not fool ourselves, we won zero games when these guys were in the side. And the one game we did look like winning was against Hawthorn, who have made an art form of winning games by a goal or less over the past three seasons.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Agreed but I could counter that temper by saying we only won 4 games the whole year with a "senior" list
Some think 2018 was an annomaly
I still think we are building a list

I like Marshall a lot and this promotion is well deserved. Already a better player than Paddy and didn't cost us much at all.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sat 27 Oct 2018 7:21pmSpot on mate. And that's why I thanked you for your post.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Watch the ruckwork in this game - pure footy.
Went to this game way back in the final round of 1994. Sainters vs Royboys.
A couple of old school ruckmen plying their craft. Big Lazar and Wayne Thornborrow.
For you younger Sainters on here, no need to thank me, just watch and enjoy. And if you never got the chance to listen to Tommy Lahiff call a game, do yourselves a favour - 'some of these blokes wouldn't get a mark in Germany' LOL!!!
There's also a cameo from a young Rossy Lyon.
Big shout out to Riewoldt12 for posting this on youtube.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Is he a ruckman first or a forward that can pinch hit?
Am a big fan of Marshall...
His presence complicates the structure in the forward line there btw him, Paddy, and Bruce.
IMO there’s only room for two and Marshall gets one spot because he can ruck too. If he’s the primary ruck, who is the pinch hitter?
What do other ppl think?

it has been on my mind now for a while
Marshall elevated
Bruce back
we have been rehabilitating Max King
and the 10kg lighter Paddy
somethings got to give
If we go King with pick 4 then it will show waning confidence in Paddy
If we go my preferred option in Bailey Smith then we need to get many many games into Marshall has his body can cope with.
And then rotate Bruce with whoever is out - UNLESS - he returns to a 50+ forward starting in rnd1

What a pity, pick 97 was going to deliver us a superstar.
Now we will get 2 rookie picks (assuming Joyce becomes a rookie type B Irish)

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Nah , the plan is we stand Sam Alabakis in the goal square to catch the ball and kick goals.skeptic wrote: ↑Mon 29 Oct 2018 11:10pm Is he a ruckman first or a forward that can pinch hit?

Then when Longer goes off for a rest we stand Sam Alabakis in the centre circle to punch the ball hard in our direction.

Re: Marshall promoted to senior list
Cant see Marshall being the primary ruck, not for a couple of years anyway, if ever. Would make a good centre half forward and that is guess work I think because he really is an unknown quantity and it make take 3/4 games to work out who is who in the zoo. If paddy stays at that weight (90kg), not sure why we focus on that because I don't think he will get the indurance anyway which his brother seems to have. Paddys pack work will suffer if he is lighter as well. I would back Battle in for a game. Put Bruce in the two's for a game or 2 and if he performs then he would be a big addition to the side if he can get back to his best. Look for plenty of stars against the Gold coast 1st game and if playing the Weagles as suggested in the 2nd game , look for a few of them to come back to earth quick smart.skeptic wrote: ↑Mon 29 Oct 2018 11:10pm Is he a ruckman first or a forward that can pinch hit?

Battle and Membrey providing alternate marking opportunities.
McCartin struggling at Sandringham.
