Blake Acres
What a gun. Has more class than 95% of the list. I’ve long said he could be (should be/ will be) the best player at the club.
Why oh why won’t Richo play him in the guts (NOT as a ruckman) for a majority of the game?!?

Re: Blake Acres
Actually loved his efforts in the Ruck. Made a contest and then allowed us to outnumber them in the midfield.
His second half really was huge, possibly the most influential player on the ground in that time... really got us back in it IMO

Re: Blake Acres
Felt he was in nearly every goal in the second half.
Needs to be in the play. Not ruck, not deep 50.
He doesn’t panic. First instinct is to look forward for an option. It is probably one of the reasons he gets some shade from supporters.
He does need to back that foot of his a bit more. It is a weapon. That kick to Bruce in the second was Goddard-esque.
All random thoughts, but I love the Blake.
Also think that if played at another club with decent developers he could be top 20 in the comp.

Re: Blake Acres
He has had injury problems no issue with development - he just needs a good run at it

Yep, reminds me a bit of Dal Santo with the time he seems to have.Ape_Man wrote: ↑Sun 14 Apr 2019 7:41pm Felt he was in nearly every goal in the second half.

We got a glimpse eh.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Re: Blake Acres
About halfway through the third quarter I thought Acres was destined for Sandy next week. Then he got going and we saw what he's capable of, we got his best and he was pivotal in our resurgence. Keep it up Blake.

Re: Blake Acres
The Blacres is a gun ,has X factor & if he gets a run at it will be a very good player for us,underrated by the coach the way he gets treated!Always has a lot of score involvements!

Re: Blake Acres
We all know he has the ability , can appear to be laconic at times but blokes his size & talent don't grow on tree's . He frustrates me know end but I think he's worth persevering with.

Re: Blake Acres
Seems deceptively strong, doesn’t really get pushed aside in the ruck?
Noticed he did it even deep in the 50 when Bruce was around so is a clear plan. If he just halves the contest we are a big chance of winning it because as soon as it hits the deck he beats the opposing ruck.

Re: Blake Acres
Did anyone think that maybe Acres is extremely happy to play that quite part time ruck role for the club?
If the coaches didn't rate him, they wouldn't be selecting him nor give him that responsibility to play as a very part time ruck.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Blake Acres
You can call me Arnie Acres or Conan Acres or The Terminator Acres
He rucks, he rolls,
he marks, he goals
He's shown us his dash, his poise and decision making
When you bleed for your club, there is no faking
Strong overhead and loves a contest
Give Blake a payrise and admit he's our best

Re: Blake Acres
Great game but the test for Blake is to back it up next week and in games when things arent going his way. I dont think Richo has done him any favours with concentrating on what he couldnt do rather that what he could, but lets hope both have turned things around.

Re: Blake Acres
We had very little choice Ted , Ben Long at one stage & even Dean Kent . IMO only he has way more upside as a midfielder & we need to address our ruck issues because you can't expect these blokes to keep towing the the line way under sized it's just not sustainable in the big picture.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sun 14 Apr 2019 8:49pm Did anyone think that maybe Acres is extremely happy to play that quite part time ruck role for the club?

He generally gets better as the game goes on - he is one paced and most of the rest get slower.

Re: Blake Acres
I think Blake might of had a bit of a confidence boost start of the last when Sicily tried to bump him on the way past (trying to be manly after being rag dolled over the boundary) and Sicily bounced straight off and into a crumpled heap at his feet. Everyone around me couldn’t help but laugh given Sicily sets himself up as the comic book villain. It was also the first thing my son mentioned when we got home.

He is a tease. His second half was instrumental in getting us over the line, bloody fantastic. Now for some consistency.

Re: Blake Acres
totally agree, was completely ineffective in the first half but was one of the reasons we came back hard at them in the 3rd quarter. he has 8 possessions in the first half and 19 in the second. Just needs to get more consistency in his gamederby Street wrote: ↑Sun 14 Apr 2019 9:29pm He is a tease. His second half was instrumental in getting us over the line, bloody fantastic. Wot, second game back? I think he is working back into it nicely. Remember his start to last season before injury?BringBackMadDog wrote: ↑Sun 14 Apr 2019 10:59pmtotally agree, was completely ineffective in the first half but was one of the reasons we came back hard at them in the 3rd quarter. he has 8 possessions in the first half and 19 in the second.
