This has become on of those events where if everyone who claimed to be there were added up would come to a figure much greater than the actuality. Such is the enormity of that day in our history

There were 9200 spectators that day. So let’s assume at the most 1200 Saints but more likely 800.

I am certainly not doubting anyone on here but on other social media ... for sure.

I was there (living in Kensington Sydney at the time , used to walk up to games from home)

Sitting in the Bradman stand with literally no one for 10 metres around me.

I was in a direct line of site of the plugger elbow and it was awful

I thought of leaving at 3/4 time but luckily hung in.

Was at Mum & Dad's place watching it from the couch. Everyone else had given up on it and wandered off doing other stuff.

That last quarter was something special.

Watched on TV, my dad went to the match but I stayed home.

Poor old Pater Caven his nose in, I always wondered what reception he gave Plugger when he joined the Swans.

I have a feeling it can't have been too good a reception given a couple of years later he was at the crows playing a premiership against us.

I wasn't at the SCG that day. I like a lot of people went off started kicking a footy at the front of my house only to be called back inside with about 2 minutes left by the old man as plugger slotted the winner

and that's the bottom line

We had to spend the day with my in-laws who are not footy fans so it was relatively easy to have a media blackout.

I got home and rewound the video. By late in the third quarter I was starting to fast forward through bits.

And then we got a consolation goal, and another, and another. By the end I was screaming at the TV and riding us home while our neighbors wondered what was going on on Sunday nights at the fan tutti household.

Well I was also at the game. As my name suggests I lived up in Sydney for many years and spent a large number of my weekends sitting with 3 other ex-Melbournites cheering on anybody playing the swans, principally to piss off the morons who sat behind us.

I watched from the front bar at the Esplanade, St Kilda. I expected Plugger would play angry after the Caven hit and wasn’t disappointed.

He obviously thought, “I’m going to cop a bit of a holiday here, so there’s nothing to lose”.

I still don’t know how old Kenny was able to avoid that torp, but it’s a good thing he did. Christ it was travelling. It might have knocked his head clean off.

What a win. What a player.
