Yes he was only ever going to play 80% max of the game.

He was definitely off for all of the last quarter, played a fair bit of the 3rd, took a decent grab on the wing that was taken off him for an off the ball push by longer.

King looked decent for his first game, covered ground well. I thought marsh looked pretty good all game and Clark had a lot of it. Longer monstered the pies ruck, who seemed very green.

So Kings first game in pseudo Saints colours and we beat the Pies by 1 point

That's a definite sign in my book

King did play second half, it wasn’t the game for full forward.
Armo is like playing coach.

Longer 71 hitouts, 19 disposals, a goal. Big mark near finish, sent it inside fifty for a mark & winning point. He's starting to get serious.

Now if he could do half of that at the top level he will be thrice the player he has been.

If he can keep it up for a few in a row he should earn himself a place in the side.

Was there for 2nd and 3rd qtrs, not super focused on footy though. Lovely day, nice place to watch footy.

As stated Max King didn't do heaps but had a crack. Outbodied by smaller, stronger opponent (pies Irish rookie, Keane). Obviously a great athlete, needs games and more strength. Got a bit frustrated at times, I suppose he would have had high hopes for today and didn't really come together

Liked Marsh, tough, quick, good skills.
Darragh Joyce was excellent down back, good positioning and courage
Hunter got it a bit but some cheap possies and calling for balls he shouldn't have. Needs more fitness, jogs at times. Some good multiple effort stuff too though.
Billy was pretty good, threw himself into it packs, prob took more marks than King
Young was tough and loves to chase
Forgot all about Coff, only noticed him at 3/4 huddle :(
White very vocal
Good to see Clavarino back, hope he gets a run in seniors when he gets match fitness back
Lots of Saints in attendance, Bruce, Gresh, Dunny, Steele, Bytel, Hanners, Dmac etc. Lots of coaches too, as expected.

Might be in next week, Marshall was not greatly effective and may benefit from a break and more time in the forward line - and provide a target, which we need.
Longer was pretty good in 2015 & 2017.

I think adequate is more appropriate.

He had some pretty good games, but as a whole body of work it was average at best.

It’s very clear that Marshall needs help... his effectiveness drops as the game goes on. Was good early, pbly the best big man in the first half. Strategy, grind him down and climb all over him.

Not Rowan’s fault at all... it’s just not a reasonable ask

And not good for his development

We just need to find another Jason Blake.

But seriously, I’m all for developing players. Just not making us worse as a team in the process.

Good stats but it's a big jump from VFL to the AFL

Must of kicked for goal poorly.
It was a typical st kilda preformance
We played the better footy
We kicked the first goal in the last 1/4 to be 19 points up and as the pies had only kicked 4 goal for the match i thought we we home .
They then kicked 4 straight in quick time to lead by five .
We then kicked the last 6 points of the game to win by 1.
Just like last week's game what should have been a comfortable win was an agonizing one .
Watching the saints/ zebs really does give the old ticker a work out !

The leading hit outs number for Collingwood was 7 with another of their players numbering 4

Longer had 71 and 6 were credited to another Sandringham player

So, overall, 77 to 11

And, despite this dominance, Sandringham won by 1 point in a low scoring game

Puts things into perspective, doesn’t it?

The stats put together by Marsh and Clark are notable along with the Stats of the youth our future hinges on (starting with King obviously but including others)

But I return to Sandringham scraping to a 1 point win

But Sammy is a great fella and gets along really well with the management

The players like Sammy and he's a nice guy. Kinda the same as the bloke who coaches the seniors

I think they said before they game he was going to play three quarters. Might have just not got near it in the third.

Good hit out for King obviously.

First game in a very long time and he still got a few touches. Anyone that has played footy before knows how hard those first 2-3 of games are.

Wait until he gets fit and some touch. Very exciting.

Credit where credit is due, well done to Longer, also, Marshall looked very tired last night, I don't think he can go against Grundy by himself this week.

Will be interesting to see what happens.

Does anyone know who the Pies ruckman was?

EDIT: Ok he is M. Lynch, 56.

Does anyone know anything about him?

So Googling.

Max Lynch:
Soccer makes up much of Lynch's sporting background, for he only began playing football in recent years. He arrived at the Murray Bushrangers as a bottom aged player but reaped the rewards of his hard work in his second season where he was the Bushrangers' number one ruckman. His ground skills, such as kicking and ball winning, are sound, and he is still developing his aerial work. Importantly, Lynch performed well during the finals and will benefit greatly from being a part of the AFL system
.

So Longer towelled up a young rookie ruck who has only recently switched to Aussie Rules.
