Didn’t read the report so hope he will be ok. That said it gives Longy a chance to redeem himself

Big loss if he misses. Played every game and one of our best this year.

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
You never like to see a player injured, but surely he was on the verge of being dropped. He was among our very worst last week (which is an effort in itself) and other than his 2nd half vs the Gold Coast, he's been very ordinary since the West Coast game.

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
I'm not a huge wrap for Dean but I don't think any gun small forward would be playing well in our sh!tshow of a forward line right now. They get no service from our D grade midfield and are generally horribly outnumbered and crowded at the fall of the ball. Yes, his kicking is iffy but he tackles and chases and does try and get up the ground to create a chain of posession. I hope he's ok but I don't think we gain anything if Long replaces him ... he's royally stunk it up for most of this year.

I didn't like him from the start - absolute front runner. He got "up" to play well against his old team but seriously, he misses easy goals (like the rest of the team), No great pace, doesn't give us anything outside of what we have in spades - inconsistent and inaccurate small forwards. Reminds me of Guerra with a little less hardness, nouse or elite kicking.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Thu 27 Jun 2019 12:25pm Big loss if he misses. Played every game and one of our best this year.
Sorry he got injured though. Richo is "bullish about him" though so he'd probably be in the team for the year regardless of how output.

No great loss, and forces Richo to do what he should have done weeks ago.
Long has way more upside and could be a real gun, Kent will never be more than a depth player.

Does nothing for three quarters, then kicks a goal and has 4 or 5 possies in the last, and gets picked next week.

Lets not get satisfaction in his injury. He has been our best small forward since Lonie went down. His skills set a up a lot of goals he is not credited for.

Spoken like a guesser, but from the little I’ve seen it’s no great loss. In fact, I wouldn’t mind if Parker and Kent both missed. Perhaps, ironically, Parker gets one more chance if Kent is down.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
Agreed. Calling him one of our best just because he hasn't missed a game is a stretch. Doesn't exactly impact the game.Cordz2 wrote: ↑Thu 27 Jun 2019 1:14pmI didn't like him from the start - absolute front runner. People need to delve into Kent's stats for 10 mins. He has had a good year as a small forward.

4th in goals. 12 total.
3rd in score involvements. Avg. 5.9 per game.
Avg. 13 disposals a game.
5th in marks. Avg. 4.5 per game.
2 tackles average.
He's done his job as a small forward with limited opportunities some weeks and in a low scoring side. Facts are facts.

Great he played 13 in a row, had hoped his injuries were behind him. First year at a new club has been serviceable. Will see how he tracks next year but right now can only see him as an expensive depth player should we become good enough to push for finals.

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
On the surface yes, he does look to be working very hard and is involved in many contests, but like many of our players this year, Dean gets too close (sometimes) to a contest and fumbles the ball. I've been thinking this for a while that if we were to have slightly more separation, we'd get less fumbling/people trying to pick the ball up at their feettedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Thu 27 Jun 2019 12:25pm Big loss if he misses. Oh, and is there any chance he could kick straighter? yes, he's not alone but have you seen young Nick Hind kick? Funny, many people thought that was his weakness Ha!

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
I rearely agree with your overt, oft-misplaced positivity Ted however, I too don't think Kent has been our worst. He plays as a small forward in front of the worst midfield in the competition. Whilst not as electric as Long or Parker ... he does seem to be in the play more often and for a tean that doesn't get too much first use ... that's not a bad efforttedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Thu 27 Jun 2019 2:44pm 4th in goals. 12 total.

Re: Dean Kent injured at training
And?
His stats "as a smaller forward" are quite good as I listed. That is what is important. He's up there in our goal kicking, assists and score involvements and 12-13 possies is enough. Means he is doing quite well and playing his role. He does some nice things off the ball too if you watch him closely.
His rankings will always be lower than most, even when he is in the best due to the role he plays so they are not entirely relevant.
Importantly, Kent has been fit and playing. He had to get over his injuries from the last 2 years. Hopefully this us just a minor hiccup.
