Who qualifies as a big gun?

Clarko
Bevo
Longmire
?

The only one of them I could see possibly leaving is Clarko, because I think Hawks would be happy to let him go if he doesn’t want to be part of their upcoming rebuild.
Paul Reiffel?
Bill Cannon?
Shooter McGavin??

Mick Malthouse....don't discount him. 😄

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I don't reckon any ex coaches in their 60's are going to be interested at all.. not many who have achieved success and moved on, feel like going back into a stress-ridden high-profile job like professional coaching.

Only Clarko is a genuine big gun.
Ten years of finals with four premierships. The most by a Hawthorn coach in an era that has a draft and salary cap. Better than Kennedy and Jeans.

Bevo...One lucky season...In fact it was one lucky month. The team finished 7th, remember. Got five players back after the AFL instituted bye and went on a golden run of form ably assisted by the umpires. Everything that could have gone right for the Dogs went right.
In the three following seasons they've been an also-ran. Not genuinely threatening at all.

Longmire! One flag with the Paul Roos inherited list while the Swans still had the COLA.
The team still has the core of that list plus Buddy Franklin.
At least they've been a consistent finals team.

But, in reality, all three are miles better than our incumbent. And I'd welcome any one of them with open arms.

Order of preference for me:
Clarko - stands miles above the other two. He is a game changer in terms of developing game plans.
Longmire
Bevo

If Clarkson would work miracles with our average list, why isn’t he doing it with their average list.

Do you reckon their experienced elite talent had much to do with it?
Burgoyne, Hodge, Mitchell, Gunston, Roughead, Lewis, Rioli, Birchall, Bruest
Add
Lake, Hill, Smith, McEvoy, Sheils

Not the worst list going around is it?

So Tony
There is white anting going on behind the scenes?

Or is it a foregone conclusion that Alan is gone?

Have they been transparent and told him?
Can he/we have any success from now until the end of the season with this going on behind the scenes?

We will not secure an in demand coach with our list

I can tell you, Brett Ratten has said he will coach again if chosen, but not at StK.

Brad Scott, not an in demand coach, will be coach at StK in 2020 if he doesn’t get the Carlton job.
Ratten could get either Carlton or North (if Longmire turns down North)
Carlton will go hard after Clarkson and Ross Lyon but are unlikely to snare them, but Carlton is the most desirable destination for a coaching job.

Rhys Shaw will coach either North or Syd depending on Longmire.
