Brenton Sanderson
In all of the commentary about who will be selected to coach St Kilda next year, very little mention if any has been made of former Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson.
For the record, Sanderson coached Adelaide for 3 years, registering 17, 12 and 11 wins respectively - he has a winning record of 56.5% which is superior to that of any of the other former coaches under consideation including Ratten, Scott, Voss, Knights and others.
His sacking by Adelaide came as quite a surprise but that is the way of things in Adelaide town, if your team doesn't make finals then the coaches are under immense pressure to hang on to their jobs.
Sanderson is currently a senior assistant at Collingwood and has a strong background of success stemming from his playing career with Geelong (199 games). In many ways he appears to possess the important characteristics of modern day coaches - he is both "good cop" and "bad cop" depending on circumstances suited to individual players.
Whilst Brett Ratten is obviously the "candidate in waiting", I hope that the Board invites Brenton Sanderson to apply for the job, he would be a great choice IMHO!

Re: Brenton Sanderson
Why would you interview someone who is not going to get the job.
Ratten would win hands down over Sanderson I'm afraid.

Re: Brenton Sanderson
He's only still working at AFL level because Buckley is his best friend.
Basically his relationships with the players were so poor that some of them refused to continue playing under him.
He also told the Adelaide heirarchy that they needed a complete rebuild at the end of 2014 and were 5 years from playing finals.
History shows that under Walsh and then Pyke, the Crows played finals for each of the following 3 years including the grand final in 2017.
So he got it really wrong at the Crows.

Re: Brenton Sanderson
I believe he lost the players and also Mark Riccuto who made the push to have him removed.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
