the word "Sexton" is explained in the above.
A "Sexton" is a church official whose job is maintenance of the church buildings, and the surrounding graveyard.
Danny looks after the Saints, and he can't get the sack,
because he knows where the bodies are buried

He is like the undertaker lurking in the shadows, no one never truly knowing what he does and when it comes time for a renewal his name is no where to be found!
I'm just delighted this clown hasn't been included on the Selection Panel for the next coach. He's been at the club since 2006 and has been Director of Coaching since 2015.

You must be an absolute world beater in your chosen profession. You speak about people you don't know in such derogatory tones to denigrete them and thier efforts in an organisation you have largely F*** all to do with in terms of the day to day opps. Fess up, lay your credentials down here and give yourself some higer credibility other can coming accross the same as all other ignorant bogans who feel they are entitled to act in such ways because they pay thier pathetically small membership fees.
And please don't be a tosser with a response along the lines of blind faith and blue skyer BS becaue that is not the point I am making, it's about being critical in an objective way without putting someone down from the security of an anonymous social media account. Like for example...I think it's time Danny Sexton was replaced with someone that can bring a fresh set of eyes and ideas to the table.

He said hello to me one day as he kept everything in order at training, does that count? Honestly I have no idea what he actually does at the club, just walks around looking busy.

I used to have a number of people supposedly working for me, who did that.

Before I pass judgement on his performance and/or ability, I'd need to know what the Director of Coaching role actually entails.
Richo did that at Port.
They have one thing in common, no idea about footy

I actually go ok in my chosen profession but that’s beside the point. I certainly wouldn’t have lasted 13 years at my employer if I’d have presided over both development and coaching (these have been his 2 roles) during a time when, for the last 8 years we’ve been as poor as any club save for GCS.
So, because you’ve got yourself all worked up and now carrying on like a complete bell-end, I’m still glad Sexton is not on the panel to select the next coach because if he’s been responsible for the output of the last coach (hint: which he has), then on what basis should he be involved or even remain?
Perhaps we could look at installing someone who’s been previously successful in the role of Director if Coaching? Or is that suggestion too logical for you to comprehend?

What if it was Danny's brain child to make BR coach and he doesn't need to be on the coaching panel facade.
What if we rocket into finals this year or next and this list starts delivering sustained finals appearances and victories.
That will mean he will have been part of a team that has built 2 very good lists in 13 years and 2 good coaches.
You'd look like a hystericall clown if that happened.

Isn't the Director of Coaching basically an admin role?
None of the coaches report to him, and he's not responsible or accountable for their performances.
I thought he basically was the right-hand man for the Head Coach in a support sense.
I don't think a lack of support for our coaching staff has been an issue has it?
Yup, he’s pretty much the coaches EA. He triages the flow of correspondence & goes on coffee runs. Apparently he can put together an excellent excel spreadsheet & specialises in setting up calendar reminders. Seriously, how is this bloke still employed with the club?

I'd wager a guess it's because he's very good at what he does.

That's exactly what I was told by a senior club official recently: it is predominantly his job to ensure that all the coaches communicate effectively and work together as a team. My argument that I have recorded on SS a number of times is that Danny Sexton has been at the club far too long - this is his 13th consecutive year (which is unprecedented) and given that St Kilda is his first and only club in any coaching role, he does not provide the broad AFL experience that his contemporaries at other clubs bring to this important role. It was a failure on Alan Richardson's part that he did not clean out all of the coaching positions when he was appointed senior coach, as most new coaches tend to do, and we will never know if that would have brought more success.

So you are saying the only reason he should lose his job is because it's been 13 years. And a failure becuse Alan didn't gut the place when he arrived. I hope our club doesn't revert to this 70s style management and allow a new coach to be stepped in the joint 5 minutes and clean it out. Why would a new manager do that, isn't thier job to get a job done through the resources of other people. Is it possible Danny is good at what he does and new coaches work that out for themselves by getting their feet under the desk before making rushed and ill informed decisions. I know that is how it happens in all professionally run organisations. It would be so disruptive to allow a new staff member to come in and clean it out. Best way to start a culture war between the old and new team members.
