Next season's scapegoat
So, imagine it all comes together: Ratten is coach, he has marvelous assistants. Thanks to the lure of getting to work under the great Ratts, BKing, Tomlinson and Hill all duly recruited. Newnes is traded.
Who gets blamed for our first bad loss. My best guess:
Acres
Second guess:
Ratten, by this point known as Pratten (unless use of "Pratten" has by now been outlawed).

Re: Next season's scapegoat
The better the scapegoat the better our season. We may only have one flag but we have been blessed with a rich history of scapegoats. Two of my favourites were Craig Davenport & Raph Clarke.
Again we are blessed with a generous gene pool of scapegoatiadis. If Newnes flies the coup, we still have the following...
Sinclair
Lonie
Bruce
Carlisle
Billings
Geary
Ross
We also are blessed with "supporters" capable of scapegoating 18 & 19 year olds, sometimes they don't even have to play.
A poor year & Sinclair, Lonie and Geary cop it
A mid range year & Bruce, Carlisle, Ross and Billings cop the wrath.
Whoever the coach is will be safe until mid 2022. I actually think the coach will be spared.

Re: Next season's scapegoat
Our goal kicking coach, Ben Dixon, was roundly bagged for a while, then flew under the radar
and I can't remember seeing him blamed for several months, even though our accuracy only improved for one or two games,
then we reverted to normal practice.
Skunk missed one against Blues and they got a goal from the kickout, so it was an 11 point turnaround (we lost 5 points and gave up 6)

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Blake Acres board.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Blacres won't be here. He'll be at Freo as part of the Brad Hill deal!

Re: Next season's scapegoat
A lot will depend on selection favorites. If Ratten takes a shine to Kent, watch out!
My prediction and hindsight for the annual FASA award. fan appointed scrape goat award
2018 Weller
2019 Newnes
2020 Kent
