Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
Basic negotiation start high and work towards middle.
5 may go but will see other pieces come in and back .
Also depends on the order things fall.
Steven likely for second round pick from Geelong. Bruce who knows what happens there. does Newnes leave FA and we what is the return.
not as simple as pick 5 swap .

Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
I still think it could be a four club deal between us with Bruce Steven and possibly acres, dogs with picks, cats with Kelly and maybe constable and Freo with hill.
Also if you have a look at the current draftee prospects there is no one that realy suits or needs around five. They are HBF and inside mids. If we can split the picks for two in the teens give one to Freo and keep one I think it would be better.

Give me Pick 5 over Hill any day of the week. We are planning to build flags around the age group of King, Clark, Gresham & Marshall. So let’s service that group with the elite long-term talent it needs. Heck, in two years, we can take Brad Hill for pick 30 if we really want to.
The line on this deal is about Pick 8-12; anything in that range is a fair and equitable value for a guy turning 27 whilst St K is not in the premiership window.
We had pick 1 a few years ago.. how’s that adding to the plan / age group?
Hill is just about everything we’ve needed for years now. That’s the only thing that is clear to me.
Its irrelevant.yes we need a player like him but you trade responsibly. Its what the pick is worth that is important in regards to trading. By your logic we could trade pick 5 for bloody Brandon Ellis because he'd also play more games than our former number 1 pick..
My logic was the the draft pick isn’t a guarantee for a elite long term AFL player. So we need to be careful not to overrate it’s value.
Hill is a very good and proven AFL player. Probably elite for his position of wing. Walks in our highest paid, and probably top 2-3 in quality.

Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
Just watched the Freo game.
Hill is worth pick 5 on that evidence.
Will take Sinclair's or Newnes spot and give us fantastic break away speed and delivery into the 50.
Exactly who we need.

Good post.
I hope we go for a late first back with pick 5 but I’m very comfortable with it going for the quality of Hill.

Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
This shouldn't be too hard to work out.
GWS hold the key. Not sure how they would get 2 picks in the in the top 10. They dont have the points if they trade 11 and 13. Gold Coast won't split 1
Melbourne could split 2 but it would be pointless for both teams.
Adelaide won't split 3 and Sydney may just bid for Green with 4.
Then it's us and then Freo.
The best result would be Freo to trade 6 and 24 for 11 and 13 and then ask for 2 and 5 for Langdon and Hill and return 11 and 13 to Melb and the Saints and then seek compensation for Hill and Langdon. Then trade 2 and the Hill compo for Kelly with Geelong.
Geelong get 2 and the Hill first round compo.
GWS get Green and 24
Freo get 5 and Kelly
Melbourne get 11 and Langdon
St.Kilda get Hill and 13.
Easy.

Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
Wait trade 2 and 5 for Hill and Langdon and then get compensation as well?
Clubs only get compensation if there a free agent not if their traded and Hill has to be trade as he is in contract.

I think Pick 5 is ok given we are getting an AA wingman at 26.
Unless we split pick 5 with 11 and 13 with GWS and give 11 to Freo for Hill.
Interesting times.

Re: Dockers want pick 5 for Hill
Despite wanting this to happen. We need to play hard ball, so let's offer them pick five for Hill plus one of Cerra, Brayshaw, Logan, Tucker, Blakely, Valente, or Cox.
Or be involved in a three way trade where we get another young player from another club.
If we split our picks, we must keep the earlier one.
This way we cater for the now and still bring in some young talent.

We are after another Docker besides Hill and it's not Langdon. Stand by folks. Could be part of the pick 5 scenario to make it fairer on the Saints.

Scoops is not an ITK and his source is whatever the public rumour of the day is. Blakely is this weekend"s rumour.

Well there is "news" and then there are posters like Ted pretending that it is not "news". If he was honest and just acknowledged that it actually "news" source from elsewhere there would not be a problem.
Instead we get Ted coming in today trying to prove yet again that he is an ITK, or his "mate" is. Only thing Ted is a troll.
Also this peanut keeps bumping his own threads (not the many he misses of course ) from his many nics gloating what an ITK he is in his own mind.

Common sense is that he is just bumping these select posts purely to inflame the forum ... i.e. trolling.
