Check our Freo Dokers on Facebook.

The love between Natalie & Ros is something to behold.

Ro$$ would love to coach a team where all players are 27+ and A grade or close.

Anyway, Fyfe is a legend and I’m confident he will be like Bobby and a triple Brownlow medallist

How old was Fyfe when Ross got there?

Has he been 27 for the last 7 years?

The brownlow is as meaningful award as getting a gold star from your primary school teacher. The players award and premiership medallions are the two valued awards these days.

The encouraging thing is we had 13 players poll. That’s equal 2nd behind Hawthorn, equal with Richmond and more than Giants, Pies or Cats.

A lot of good players, not enough stars.

From afl.com

Seb Ross flew home with a wet sail, polling six of his 12 votes in rounds 19, 21 and 22, corresponding with the Saints finishing their season strongly. In contrast, Jack Billings began with a bang, polling eight in the first five rounds to sit equal-second for the Brownlow. Billings only polled three more votes the rest of the season. Emerging ruck Rowan Marshall (seven), Jade Gresham (five) and Josh Bruce (four) rounded out the top five. A total of 13 players shared the 53 votes for the Saints. Prized recruit Dan Hannebury picked up a solitary vote in his first season at his new club.

Top five
12 – Seb Ross
11 – Jack Billings
7 – Rowan Marshall
5 – Jade Gresham
4 – Josh Bruce

My guess
Billings, Gresham or Marshall... maybe Billings?
IMHO, it was always going to be Seb.

I think that says a lot about our plight.

Ross wins the B&F because he's dling what Cho tells him to do. His impact is minimal and we suck.

New coach comes in, we win a few games and Ross starts impacting games. It's obvious even to umpires that he's a different player under a new coach.

It makes me even more intrigued to see how we go without Cho.

The Brownlow needs a complete overhaul, it's a midfielders medal - who gets most possessions with no accountability
Dangerfield gets 40 & 3 goals - 3 votes, his "opponent" gets 35 & 2 goals - 2 votes
What a load of crap
A defender can shutdown a key forward, be recognised by the media for doing an outstanding job, be credited with being a major factor in his team winning the game - the end
Even forwards can kick a bag of goals & get some votes
Grundy polled well but mainly because of his possessions

The last ruck to win - Scott Wynd 1992
The last forward to win - Tony Lockett 1987
The last defender to win - Ross Glendinning 1983

The next non-midfielder to win a Brownlow - highly unlikely
The next defender to win a Brownlow - never again

Take the job off the umpires, they have enough to do
Give it to someone else & make them consider ALL aspects of the game

Sums up where we are at.
Would like to see Gresh having more of an influence and moving into the teens next year with some match winning performances.

I couldn't agree more, it is such an antiquated system for judging who is the best, you could possibly mount an argument the the award be modified to just who is the "fairest" which I think is more in line with what an ump is in a position to adjudicate. Picking out who is the best by an umpire is an award that has a conflict of interest and open to the clear bias we see every year not to mention there is the question of impartiality. About time the debate was opened up on this area of the game.

The Brownlow is what it is.... some fools continually want rule changes...now the Brownlow ???

Make up another award if it makes you feel better.
and leave institutions alone.

Who said anything about rule changes
The only change I suggested was taking it off the umpires, but OK leave that as is

I want recognition of all players, not just midfielders who rack up the most touches & have no accountability for an opponent

Premiership medals have always been valued, not just these days.

And the players award is the biggest load of s*** in the industry. Not a game by game quantitive/count based system and as M Blight stated the players don’t watch enough football to know who’s had the best season.

It is a midfielder's award, true.

The award which I think is the most prestigious, besides your club's B & F, is the coaches' association award. However, that's pretty much always won by midfielders too, so the fact that midfielders win it all the time probably isn't ridiculous

Would be interesting to go through all the club B & F winners and see the spread in terms of position and role

Well said 58. I'm not sure a complete overhaul is required, leave it with the umpires and recognise it for what it is, an individual award. More often than not the best players are midfielders. That said, they may not be the most important player to a particular team. It has certainly thrown up anomalies over its history.

Very happy they recognised Plugger & Glendinning though.

Well done to Fyfe & Cripps, both are beasts and incredible footballers.

Shows how out of date Blight and you are, so the players don't spend half their week watching vids of players plus other intel docs. Sounds like you are suggesting they read the back page of the HS to find out how to beat their opponent.
