Ricky Nixon suggesting that St Kilda looking at redrafting Sam Rowe as a mature rookie. We certainly need a third ruckman for depth while Sam Alabakas develops.

Three rucks is pretty much the minimum.

Ryder is only a 2 year proposition. So to have two stop-gap rucks and only one long-term ruck on your list is not healthy.

You would hope that they could find someone who has some future potential rather than recycle Rowe. Rowe had little impact in a season when we had huge injury numbers. So what type of back-up is that?

Remember too that Marshall, Dean Cox Sandilands and some other quite rucks have all been taken as rookies.

Ruck is definitely one position where good players can be found late in the draft or as rookies.

Surely Lewis Pierce is a better option now he said he isn’t retiring.

I always cringe when I see Ricky Nixon's name anywhere near the St Kilda name.

We got Marshall as a rookie from the VFL/country league so why not have a look at someone else under 25 again?

From were I am looking that makes both of them youngsters, almost toddlers.

Not sure if it came across over the interwebs but what I was saying is we should be looking for another Marshall to rookie and not an old has-been worn out bloke over 40. I'm sure there must be some diamonds out in the country grounds somewhere.

Well we are not looking at Bennell.

From age.com

"St Kilda, which lost Steven to the Cats, have not discussed Bennell as an option having recruited the run of Brad Hill and Zak Jones during the trade period.

Bennell is the only DFA you could consider with possibly Menadue from Richmond.

I’m a no to Bennell as he’s had too many chances but you could understand taking the punt given the risk v reward and his upside.

If he turned things around he could play 100 games of footy.
