We might even play a smokie.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Thanks, was also my initial thought as I’m planning to take the kids to Moorabbin.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 14 Jan 2020 9:28pmNo that game is still on. Sides will meet twice in 8 days.mr six o'clock wrote: ↑Tue 14 Jan 2020 8:53pm Does this mean no practice match at Moorabbin ?

Hopefully this means we don’t have to give up any players for the AFL fundraiser/Gilligan “look at me how good am I” on the same day.
So stupid having a representative match in the preseason. I’m all for inter club practice matches but the State of Origin is bad timing. AFL have donated $2.5M and this is just grandstanding. Who’s going to pay the staff/catering at Jihad, or will they all volunteer their time??
In contrast, our fundraiser with the Hawks is in Gippsland- only a few hours away from the fires at a community type venue.

My take is that it's a straightforward admission that none of our players will invited to the 'look at me how good am I' game where people will go to watch the players that are actually really good so have a look at them.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Wed 15 Jan 2020 8:59am Hopefully this means we don’t have to give up any players for the AFL fundraiser/Gilligan “look at me how good am I” on the same day.

Interesting to note that the Melbourne Storm have offered to pay back the membership money for all members that were effected by the bushfires

I absolutely LOVE that gesture, even though it directly costs the club money. Then again, the goodwill doing something like that is massive and other members may end up donating back to the club to make it financially neutral.
Far more impressive than the standard fundraising stuff.

It's a really good ground and easy to get too by road or rail. Everybody should make the effort to get there.

Re: The Saints to play a Bush fire game in Morwell
Great that our club and the Hawks are doing this - think we are exactly the right clubs for it too.
And it is a real positive that we play a good side twice during the pre-season, as well as a very good one in Collingwood. With so many new faces in our potential 2020 lineup the more opportunities that get to play as an outfit the better.
