On the brightside...
We know our poor kicking at goal isn't because of crowds
Kent won't play 22 games in 2020
Butler & Ryder
Clark & Steele
Our % is the best in a long time
Not having to be on the train home after that

Re: On the brightside...
On a serious note...
The Long experiment looks a winner
Ryder was better than I thought
King looks like he belongs
Hill and Jones are clearly worth every penny
At least for a period of time we played a brand of football that we have been wanting to see and flourish with
Roberton got through unscathed
The challenge for Ratten is learning from mistakes which his predecessor was unable to do.
1. Can’t go in with too many small forwards... at least one of Kent, Butler and Lonie need to go. Have Gresh spend more time forward and being in another mid type like Hind
2. Cannot have too many players in the team that lack class. Hate to say it, though he did ok... Dunstan simply isn’t damaging enough at the moment
3. Battle needs to play

Only 2 more games to go before the seaon is postponed and the AFL can start making decisions based on health and safety.

Re: On the brightside...
A lot of idiots on BF seem to think that the afl can go on, for example saying ‘just play games in that state etc.’
They don’t seem to realise that a lockdown means only essential things are open. Absolute morons!

Re: On the brightside...
The AFL really have been disappointing in thier handling of this world crisis. The morons are the ones the AFL could have reached with responsibile massaging. Instead they have created dangerous citizens who still think this virus won't impact them in unthinkable ways and more seriously don't understand how they pose a risk to spreading the virus.

I don't think they did, they gave hope in a hopeless situation. I'm not sure those who invaded Bondi Beach took their lead from the AFL, if they had the beach would have been empty like the AFL stands were.Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Sun 22 Mar 2020 4:38pmThe AFL really have been disappointing in thier handling of this world crisis. Re: On the brightside...
Whilst it was really disappointing that St Kilda lacked the fight to knock off the Roos, especially when they had 3 players down for most of the second half, it has to be acknowledged that North had a far more experienced team on the park today. They did particularly well to contain Bradley Hill.
Zak Jones was a stand out, Paddy Ryder did well, Max King did alright and showed his potential, but is going to take a while to reach maturity - he has yet to build his body!
As someone mentioned, St Kilda's forward line was not functioning well, perhaps lacking another tall, and the back line was really exposed in the 2nd half.
Accuracy in front of goal remains a worry - Marshall could have won the game for the Saints if he had slotted a goal from a set shot in front with only 90 secs to go.
Now that the season is suspended there is no point in suggesting changes for the next game. Although the postponement announced today is till 31 May, it may well be longer than that, no-one knows. But if there is a further delay, I suggest the AFL should consider cancelling the 2020 premiership competition altogether and play a knock-out fixture culminating in a final at the end of September. For the 2020 NAB draft simply use the 2019 final ladder to decide on selections, minus the extra concessions given to the Suns.

Re: On the brightside...
You'd have to think if any part of the season was salvageable in terms of actually being able to complete games at any stage this year that results will be compromised and ultimately any premier would have a fairly large asterisk next to its name in the records of history.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Sun 22 Mar 2020 6:42pm Whilst it was really disappointing that St Kilda lacked the fight to knock off the Roos, especially when they had 3 players down for most of the second half, it has to be acknowledged that North had a far more experienced team on the park today. Straight up the, skills, fitness and conditioning of players will be compromised by having to remain in an extended lockdown.

Re: On the brightside...
I agree with the idea of cancelling the season as we know it. A best case scenario now would be to play around 12 games. It wouldn’t make a ‘premiership’ almost meaningless. Play as many games as the situation allows then a couple of ‘finals’ at the end but don’t award a flag.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Sun 22 Mar 2020 6:42pm . The draft is going to be interesting given that the players who would be drafted will be lucky to play at all this year.
