Votes v Pies
Terribly terribly deflating. Last week it was hard to work out who to leave out of the votes; this week hard to find 5 blokes to get votes.
5. Butler. Far and away our best . Hard running , hard tackling, makes smart choices.
3. Gresham. Best of the midfielders . Far from his best, but he seems to have improved his tank.
3. Steele. Makes his opponent earn every touch. That one tackle worth a vote on its own.
2.Carlisle. Played the intercept game better today.
2. Paton. One of the few who held up well when we were under siege.
A few others racked up cheap disposals when the heat was out of it.

Hey George - thanks for voting - I am thinking you may be on your lonesome this week!

Re: Votes v Pies
Geeze.. Gresh in the votes after that stinker shows where we were at.. kicked it like an auskick player today
4 - Butler
3 - Patton (If his man didnt clean up?)
2 - Hill (Only for effort in the 2nd half)
1 - Howard (Couple of key errors but some good work also. Kept his chin up. Seb Ross had his head down in the first quarter).
In - Dunstan, Battle, Geary/Webster/Roberton
Out - Ross/Hammebury, Ryder, any of the non KP backs except patton put them in a jar they all deserve it

Re: Votes v Pies
Gresham got stats but his kicking into the fwd 50 is atrocious. Whilst he’s building tank I’m yet to be convinced he’ll make a midfielder. That said he’s not hitting the scoreboard either so a small forward he ain’t
Butler and Jake C were the best for mine. If it wasn’t for jake we would lost by another 5 goals

I know what you mean but Gresham got to positions I wish Hannebery, Hill, Jones and Ross had got to. He's a shocking kick but I don't know if it's laziness, bad habits or simply thinks he's better than what he is.Saint_Singapore wrote: ↑Sat 20 Jun 2020 8:32pm Geeze.. Re: Votes v Pies
Gresham HAS to go back to the fwd line. He makes poor choices with ball in hand and he kicks it like a C grade local footballer. Up high in the air and half the time they're mongrels. Fwds need better delivery than that. Great that he's finding it but I'd almost prefer him to not have it. Runs himself into trouble and our fwds out of position.

Re: Votes v Pies
The AFL Match Report gives the following ratings:
1. Hill (91)
2. Carlisle (88)
3. Butler (83)
4. Coffield (73)
5. Gresham (72)
6. Paton (72)
7. Steele (70)
8. Howard (67)
9. Marshall (67)
10. Jones (66)
11. Billings (64)
I don't know who makes these assessments but I tend to feel that is pretty right, there was not a single stand-out Saints player on the night.
Conversely, Collingwood had 4 players that scored 97 or more: Sidebottom, Maynard, Grundie & Pendlebury.

1 kick is worth x points
1 bandpass worth y points
etc
