Saints relocation- does it matter?
I'm enjoying the Saints winning, and at the moment it wouldn't matter where the club is located. I remember older mates who followed the old South Melbourne who became Sydney Swans and when they won their premiership back in the 2000s, those guys were over the moon- it didn't matter where the club was for them.
Would we be all that bothered of the Saints needed to relocate interstate for survival?

Only if they kept winning and never lost, if they are losing then I prefer them to be at Moorabin.spert wrote: ↑Sun 02 Aug 2020 8:13am I'm enjoying the Saints winning, and at the moment it wouldn't matter where the club is located. If we get 10 away games in Melbourne and we get rights to see them - then I guess I can cope!!!!
After the first 5 flags though - I want my boys back!
LOL

Re: Saints relocation- does it matter?
No it wouldn't matter if it meant the survival of the club.
Tassie Saints for instance, with all the draft concessions and financial support from the AFL that GWS and the Suns have, would be just be the icing on the top. They'd get an avalanche of support from the Islanders plus continued support from the majority of existing Saints supporters
An easy flight from Melbourne and away Melbourne games played at the Dome/G. Not a lot of change there. For the Regional, Interstate and International TV supporters, it would be business as usual!

Probably not as much as it used to. If we got 8or 9 games a year at the G or Docklands.

Would they know who Bob Skilton was?
Would they care?
No, No, and No.
Over time the Sth Melb part of their history will be lost.

Re: Saints relocation- does it matter?
We just spent over 30 million dollars to build a brand new headquarters we are going nowhere.
Team is heading towards a finals window and we will eclipse 50,000 members for sure next year and have stronger backing from the top end of town.... we are going nowhere ...

I only spend about 1/3rd of my time in VIC, so selfishly no issue.
I'm looking forward to Thursday night at Metricon
I think the Swans reconnected with the South Melbourne and bloods culture under the Roos era and in the day of subscription television.
A viable winning saints is all I'm interested in regardless of where they are based and play.

Mr Burns may be conducting black ops to relocate the Saints to Qld so he can attend many more games."
