Changes v Suns
On the proviso that the players are fit (obviously)
Out: Parker, Savage, Ryder (injured)
In: Ross, Long, Lonie (go with one ruck?)
Because of a good win maybe only a swap for injuries (Ryder out and Long in and one ruck)
If, as tony74 said that there may be a few players rested, then all bets are off.

Re: Changes v Suns
Under normal circumstances, I'd predict IN: Long; OUT: Savage. Off a five-day break, I'm far less certain. Do we rest people who had lots of game time? Or, maybe, we take the players with low game time as a sign they need a rest. Plus, there's whatever was going on with Ryder and Carlisle's friendly tussle with Rampe. I'm also not sure if Kent or Ross are any chance.
I will point out that Parker did pretty well in terms of pressure numbers. The pressure act count of our forwards on the official site was:
Parker, 18
Butler, 16
Geary, 13
Hind, 12
King, 9
Membrey, 9
I'm not particularly convinced that our coaching group will particularly care that Parker didn't get a lot of the footy as long as he's chasing and tackling.

Which "official site" would that be ? AFL Stats Pro ?vacuous space wrote: ↑Sun 02 Aug 2020 1:06am Under normal circumstances, I'd predict IN: Long; OUT: Savage. I noticed Membrey had an ice pack on his right thigh walking off the ground.
I hope it is just precautionary.

Re: Changes v Suns
Personally I hope that Tony 74's goss is incorrect and that we resist resting significant numbers of players for the Battle of the Kings Game unless they are genuinely sore, though yes with the compressed schedule coming up they will no doubt be more cautious with some players.
Reason being that I would like our best possible team against the Suns to gives us the best possible chance of locking in the 4 points.
We are just off a 7 day break. We are also lucky that we are not amongst the early group of clubs having a bye and so should get our bye when it will be of more use in terms of resting layers.
Now yes the Cats will have an extra day over us. But I would rather lock in the Suns game at the expense of maybe not be quite at our best against the Cats.
Note:
Now yes we are 3rd, but we only have 24 points (though with a healthy%).
After the remaining games this round it is likely the team in 10th place will have 20 points
Plus the Dons have one game up their sleeve against the Dees.
9 wins may have you playing finals. 10 games means your are very likely to be playing finals. So for Saints to be more likely to play finals we need 4 more wins.

Re: Changes v Suns
They look tired. Short turn arounds with games will hurt the very young teams. Sounds like they'll be making some changes. Hope we can maintain the rage. Feeling more confident after watching that. They've lost 4 of their last 5 now. See Ben Kings mark if you get a chance. Brave as hell. I hope we somehow land him one day.

Re: Changes v Suns
It's in the match stats. You might have to go into their 'my stats' tab and add pressure acts, as I don't think it's under either Basic or Advanced tabs. It may wind up on Stats Pro, but I find that 'last round' feature they have tends to work for a few days under normal circumstances, and with the next round starting tomorrow, I'm not at all confident it will work at all for this round.
Also, after watching Ratten's presser, Kent would appear to be a lock for this week, so unless somebody gets rested, Parker's probably an out anyway as I can't see them dropping anybody else to keep Parker in.

Longy has to come back in.

Pretty sure Jones struggled with the last short turnaround.. With his hammy issues maybe he will be rested?

Maybe Freo aren't so bad after all.
Makes me feel a bit better about them beating us a month ago.
They are now the second team since 1900 to win and only kick one behind,

Suns have a 4 day turnaround this week and we have 5 days. It's going to be interesting.

Last year after 17 rounds the 8th side was on 9 wins while 6th and 7th were on 10 wins.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sun 02 Aug 2020 3:45am 9 wins may have you playing finals. 10 games means your are very likely to be playing finals. So for Saints to be more likely to play finals we need 4 more wins.

That record has stood for 120 years, we achieve it, and held the record for 1 bloody week.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 02 Aug 2020 11:22pm Maybe Freo aren't so bad after all.

But we did better with 12.1
They only managed 10.1

Re: Changes v Suns
Witts is 209cm, Ryder 197cm, Marshall is 201, Abbott is 200cm, Alabakis is 211cm.
Witts will crush Marshall with height alone if Ryder can not play.
If Ryder does not play we need Abbott sharing ruck duties with Marshall.
Witts had more rucking to do in his last match and had one less day to recover.
We need 2 rucks to win our share of clearances.

Some fairly lengthy injury lists going into round 10 last year. Will be an interesting comparison as we move into round 13.
Interesting that Zak Jones copped a 2-3 week hammy in round 9 last year & a wise poster just suggested he should have a spell this week.
I hope not as his form is getting better & better.

Surely, Long for Parker. And no love for Ross coming back in?
But then tony's promised changes... perhaps we'll see Byrnes again (was it nerves?) and hopefully Bytel and Phillips over the next few weeks.
And just thought - Clavarino for Carlisle?

I think Kent pbly has to come back in too... not his biggest fan but he’s maintained his form pre-injury and deserves to walk back in once fit
