Clean Out
It's that time of the year, when our attentions turn to all things trade, in addition to playing finals footy.
However, the way we are travelling, I wouldn't be betting on us for anything much in the way of finals footy.
So getting back to trading.
Some big names on the outer. Carlisle yet to be offered a contract and probably won't be.
Jack Lonie. Contract expires at the end of 2020. Also seems to be on the outer. A couple of clubs said to be chasing him.
Many will disagree, but neither of these guys lived up to their full potential, so not a bad thing, in my view, if they are moved on.
I always regretted that we selected Lonie over Caleb Daniel. We had the choice.
Don't get me started on Petracca.
Quite a few guys who can't get a game like Parker and Abbott. Can't see us keeping them. Reckon we'll hold on to Dunstan.
I also want to take the opportunity to have a whinge about Dan the man.
Paying him a motza and we've hardly had a game of footy out of him.
Still a great player but his body keeps letting him down. Not sure he was the wisest of investments.
Also, who are we chasing?
We were interested in Brad Crouch. Has that interest dropped away?
I know we like Jye Caldwell and maybe Coniglio who seems to be out of favour. I know we want and need more midfield grunt.
Bailey Smith is another who keeps being mentioned in connection with us. Thoughts?
Happy to cop the criticism that I know is coming, but interested in the thoughts of others.

Bailey Smith from the Bulldogs?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Yes. Been mentioned but I can't see the Bulldogs letting him go. Certainly the kind of player we need very badly.

Re: Clean Out
On FB, they’re suggesting that Ross is open to a trade. Take that for whatever it’s worth.
What about Ollie Wines from Port. Looked to be a deadset gun a few years ago and stagnated a bit. Still a handy player.

Re: Clean Out
Why on earth would the Dogs let a young gun like Bailey go? Fantasy stuff.
Yes he is friends with Coffield, but Dogs know he is a gun.

Re: Clean Out
As run through pretty well on another thread. We really need to be ruthless.
I think it is the key word.
If the deal is there for Lonie, then take it.
Same for Seb. Take it. He's a B&F winner. Shouldnt go cheap.
Personally I think we need to move some coaches on and get some fresh eyes on the group. I think that is just as important as getting some new blood through the door.
Caldwell really has barely started his career. There would still be a bit of speculation involved in trading for him. He will cost at the trade table and currently we dont have much currency. I would expect a few players being shopped and moved to get into the second and third round to effectively just trade on.
Carlise is another. Some real thought needs to go into what the plan is there.
JB...If the price is right.
Personally, I would retire Gears. Not having a crack at him but I just feel that the game has already past him and next year would be even worse for him if he plays on.

Re: Clean Out
I think Carlisle is on the outer, likely cracked s***s re our contract offer? Could be a possible trade due to issues.
BF site claiming Ross could be involved in a trade with Richmond for RCD & CCJ? To unproven players but in the modes we need a big bodied midfielder and ruck/tall forward. Club would be backing their recruiting staff in big time.

Re: Clean Out
I thought T74 might have an insight. A lot appears to be leaking from within, I thought T74 may be able to shore that up for us.

Isn't it Patrick Lipinski that's besties with Coff?saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 14 Sep 2020 9:57pmYes [Bailey Smith] is friends with Coffield, but Dogs know he is a gun.
Bailey played at Sandringham with Max King. Maybe he's desperate to kick it to the big fella. Probably not, though. Caldwell seems more realistic.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Re: Clean Out
Gears knows all this. If he doesn't, he needs a tap on the shoulder, Cowboy Neale style. With many thanks.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

I don't know about Patrick, nor who Coff's "bestie" is.. But Coffield and Smith are friends.
Despite Smith’s star rapidly rising, Kornberg said he wasn’t one to forget his roots.
A chance text message from St Kilda player Nick Coffield ahead of last year’s National Championships saw the pair strike up a close friendship. Coffield’s influence on Smith has been so profound that he’s made a conscious effort to be that figure for this year’s crop of draft hopefuls where he can.

Yes Coffield and Lipinski went to Whitefriats College in Donvale together.vacuous space wrote: ↑Tue 15 Sep 2020 11:57pmIsn't it Patrick Lipinski that's besties with Coff?saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 14 Sep 2020 9:57pmYes [Bailey Smith] is friends with Coffield, but Dogs know he is a gun.
