Re: How the Saints escaped the wilderness
So unless I’m mistaken, at the end of the 2016 season, we swapped a first round pick with Hawthorn that netted us Coffield, Battle and Long. We also picked up Steele for a future second round pick, and drafted Rowan Marshall as a rookie. That is unbelievable.
I think that Rowan has become so good that if you re-do the 2016 draft he goes top 10.

Thank you Hawthorn.suss wrote: ↑Sat 19 Sep 2020 10:56am So unless I’m mistaken, at the end of the 2016 season, we swapped a first round pick with Hawthorn that netted us Coffield, Battle and Long. And while some people say how could our recruiters overlook this player or that player, just remember every club overlooked Marshall, Wilkie and Sinclair. All rookie picks.
Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.

Sam Petrevski-Seton
Jack Scrimshaw
Griffin Logue
Will Brodie
Jack Bowes
Rowan Marshall Rookie draft pick 10
Who would you take, over Marshall, from that list?
Marshall may be the best of the lot, in the end.
2016 draft was an absolute goldmine.

Agree, would you trade Marshall for any one of those players?SaintPav wrote: ↑Sun 20 Sep 2020 2:39amI would take Marshall first every day of the week.stkfc1 wrote: ↑Sun 20 Sep 2020 12:24amAndrew McGrathsuss wrote: ↑Sat 19 Sep 2020 10:56am So unless I’m mistaken, at the end of the 2016 season, we swapped a first round pick with Hawthorn that netted us Coffield, Battle and Long. Seaford was a disaster. It was akin being based in Afghanistan and moving to Monaco.
Part of the reason we are back in the finals and a club players want to come to and stay at is because of RSEA Park Moorabbin.
