From 14th to 6th in 1 season

Post: # 1871419Post diddley »

Wow, I am wrapped with that development.
I signed up as a first time member November last year, because I thought some really good change was happening in the club.
This is better than I would have thought.
A “home” final, after a bottom 5 finish. Just wow.
It is an 8 spot jump up the ladder. Only beaten by Port with a 10 spot jump.
So many people had us falling/staying down.
So proud right now.

Yep tbh I’d love to win a final but I’ve passed this season already
Remembering that imo our list isn’t the most talented it’s a huge effort

Very well deserved 6th..no soft draws this year and we also have the 6th best percentage... So we are very deserving of 6th and not far from 5th

Yep team has done us proud. I'll hope for the best but won't despair too much if we loose. We know now we're good enough to make finals so the bar had been set for a talented young group. Fantastic effort by Ratts in his first year. One happy Sainter here.

According to Tom Browne last night, Port are the first team to top the ladder after missing the 8 in the previous season.
Can anyone remember how we went in the ‘96 finals series?

AFL media have convenient short memories. just like us, Port rose from 10th to 1st.

Yeah pass mark from me also.

Everything from here is a bonus. Expectation and pressure is off.

Have a red hot crack and enjoy the ride.

If we lose next week we are officially 8th, but I get the point.

If Collingwood lose they will finish 8th.

Interesting - if West Coast lose, will they be 8th?

Saintmatt's view has been we needed to make finals to frank the development of this list however I tend to think we need to win a final. And my view is based on the opposition being the Dogs.

We beat them earlier this seaon and we will go in as favorites you would think especially if Naughton doesn't play.

And we beat them last year convincingly.

We're in the finals to win finals, end of story.

The Semis might be a different story though, but for now, we need to win this Elim.

Wallis is even less likely than Naughton apparently, and Schache is unlikely too.

I may be wrong but I think 7th and 8th positions are taken by the losers of the EF depending on who finished higher on the ladder at the end of the H&A - so Collingwood loses and they are 8th - WC loses - they are 7th - the Bulldogs finish either 7th or 8th

Yes.
The lowest West Coast can finish is 7th, if they lose. In that case the loser of StK & WB would take 8th.

Well we won the preseason grand final in 96. Thrashed Carlton. Perhaps that confused Tom.

I now couldn’t give a fats rats if we have outperformed by making the 8.

If we don’t win next Saturday, I will still be very pissed.
