Re: I'm in shock
It was reported here like 2 months ago that he’d said words to the effect of if the club wanted to shop him around he wasn’t opposed because he saw the direction the club was going...
The usual forum nuffies carried on but I wondered if there was something to it
I don’t reckon it’s the best time now for us to look at trading him... his peak value was 2 years ago... reckon he’s worth more to us now than anything we’d get on the open market
Close to our best player across 2 finals.
The disappointing thing about Seb IF this is true... is that there is still clearly a spot for him in the top22 if he produces his better standard of performance more consistently.
He can be very good or very average. For the first time in his career, he’s seriously challenged to keep his spot and it looks like he wants to up and leave

Re: I'm in shock
This is the thing where we have to be ruthless to improve the list.
Seb is a good player. Too good to be wasting his career at Sandringham.
With Crouch coming in he would see the writing on the wall.

Re: I'm in shock
If Ross salary loss enables us to bring in Treloar I’m ok
In Crouch, Treloar
Out Ross
Midfield = improved ...nice
IF Ross goes and we don’t bring in another ....we’ve lost some mid depth
I wonder if this is Ross realising he’s hit his peak and writings on the wall??? RFA next year??? If so nows the time to move him
Want a cup?

Re: I'm in shock
There are always lots of rumours around trade week, lets see how it plays out before we panic. Gallagher and Lethlean are the smartest list managers in the game , if they think they can replace Seb with a better version eg Treloar then we have to trust them.

Re: I'm in shock
Seb has recently often been tasked with tagging.
He clearly does not like it.
Instead of following Dusty he follows the ball.
Instead of blocking and tackling Dusty he is chasing the ball himself or running to receive.
Then when he has failed he looks around to see Dusty 50 metres away on the end of pass.
If you are given a role you need to play it.
Otherwise be moved on.

Re: I'm in shock
He’s an ok tagger on average players. But dead ordinary at it against really good players. Tim Kelly gave him a bath too. It’s not really his fault - he’s a natural ball watcher. But he can’t adapt. With Crouch in .. there’s no spot for Seb. And if they get Higgins ... there’s definitely no spotace wrote: ↑Thu 05 Nov 2020 9:45pm Seb has recently often been tasked with tagging.

Re: I'm in shock
He’s just midfield depth at this point, no great loss.

Re: I'm in shock
Seb would be a great midfield rotation/depth player. But he would want more dollars and gametime than where we're heading.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Re: I'm in shock
Which club wants Ross, the Injectors can't get everyone, but, maybe they are trying for a Five for this trade period.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: I'm in shock
Surely it’s Bombers.....ask for Merret in return give Dildoro some of his own...,
Then again if he’s on 500 - 600k (was given a good salary apparently when we had to pay someone..) it’s a 20s pick and that’s fine ....as long as we land AT
That’s a lot of coin to spend on depth mids...

Re: I'm in shock
I heard BJ Goddard on trade radio today. He seems to think Seb is surplus especially with Jones, Steele, Crouch and perhaps Gresh as the starting mids. He had Hannas mainly playing wing and rotating in the middle plus with the emergence of Clark and maybe Bytel there’ll be limited spots for inside mids. BJ was working out his best 22 and he had Sincs and Battle ahead of Sebby for their versatility and perhaps Higgins also squeezing him out if we are lucky enough to jag the snag

Well I agree with BJ about Sincs and Battle.Josh Battle wrote: ↑Fri 06 Nov 2020 4:07am I heard BJ Goddard on trade radio today. Battle is a no brainer best 22 , the last spot on the list is between Ross and Sincs now.
Which means we are actually a good footy team.

Re: I'm in shock
Seb Ross is a handy player in an ordinary team.
It sounds like we are trying to develop a more flexible midfield group so Seb may miss out, as he has slipped to 4th to 5th best mid, depending on how Hunter Clarke comes on next year.
If we happen to snare Treloar, his position is worse as we would no longer need a tagger. (jury is out on him performing that role!)
There is nothing special in any facet of Seb's game...not quick, so so overhead, a bit one sided, and not a known goal kicker.

Re: I'm in shock
Sadly, it would appear that Seb's going nowhere.
Shame. Would've loved to have deployed his salary into trying to acquire Treloar.

After the Gags update on Ross staying at the Saints for 2021, you might need to tell your source to validate his info first.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
