Re: Parker delisted
The reduction in list size, plus not having a existing contract for 2021, meant that Parker was in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
ie I would have kept him over say DMak.

I know it has to do with contract status but they delist Parker and keep Kent...........idiots.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 07 Nov 2020 2:03pm The reduction in list size, plus not having a existing contract for 2021, meant that Parker was in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

Re: Parker delisted
Others without contracts will probably go yet. Either delisted if not traded. More likely to go as DFA's
Some will be kept for depth. Savage they will try and trade, but could be depth.
Lonie the most likely to stay f not traded and has already been offered a one year deal I believe.

Really sucks to lose him ahead of Kent but to be honest both are pbly surplus to requirements and one had a contract and one didn’t

Disappointing but expected with reduced list sizes

Re: Parker delisted
There's a lot of love for Matty Parker on here and I wish him well.
Unfortunately, there are also a lot of misguided comparisons of him with other Saints players. Yes, he played a manic and exciting style but, too often, that resulted in dropped marks, high tackles, missed goals and arguing with the umpire while his opponent ran away with the ball. More than any other season, this year exposed and magnified his deficiencies.
Great bloke, colourful character and solid citizen but just not quite up to the standard the Club needs of its players to carry it forward. Good luck Matt.

Can’t afford to carry players whose impact lasts only 5 minutes each time they play, regardless of how spectacular that impact might look.

Re: Parker delisted
Yeah very average skills and not surprised. Would be happier if Kent went instead of him but by some miracle he has a contract. Very fortunate to be on our list still.

Re: Parker delisted
Very sad to see Matty go - with his effort level you wonder what could have been if he had more games to settle in. There is going to be a lot of stories like Matt with list reduced this year. All the best in the future Matty!

Re: Parker delisted
Very overated by some imo
Too much placed on that one hanger..
He then became ..he may do this or that
But never has...
No real upside...
At the point where you then hope the grass is greener with another hungry for their chance......

Fair enough - just lacked consistency and had a few injury issues - great story though

Re: Parker delisted
I don’t know about overrated
It would have been nice if he had the opportunity to kick more than the 2 goals Kent kicked in the last 3 months of football...
And one of those goals was a free kick advantage earned by Parker
It’s always sad to lose these players that have potential but don’t play that much whilst concurrently, a list clogger gets an abundance of opportunity
His two games this season weren’t great but were the standard output of many of Kent and Lonie’s games
Parker IMO was more physical than both and had more weapons than both.
Sometimes players need to play however to develop and IMO he didn’t get that this season.
That being said... as posted above, he’s unlikely to be surplus to requirements as a FP. We recruited a lot of those types of players over the last 5 years
Some have contracts currently and others don’t

Re: Parker delisted
Missed chance this year for Matty
I was one who thought he had alot of upside.
Was hard at player and ball, frequently hurt an oppo player withfair physi al aggression.
Good luck to him

Re: Parker delisted
I don't agree. He is exactly the X factor we need. Much better than Kent, Hind and Lonie. All he needed was a fair run which he didn't get. I hope he gets picked up by someone else and at least gets a fair chance.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 07 Nov 2020 3:22pm There's a lot of love for Matty Parker on here and I wish him well.

We will be forever grateful that you are not StKilda's list manager. Feel free to disagree with my assessment but, obviously, the Club's thinking is more in tune with my opinion than it is with yours.SaintPelican66 wrote: ↑Sat 07 Nov 2020 5:18pmI don't agree. All the best to him obviously but I never saw the fuss to be fair, wouldn’t even put him in the bottom 6 conversation people talk about when talking about what you need to win a flag re list.

Just because the club makes a decision does not mean it is correct. You as a St Kilda supporter should know this very well.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sat 07 Nov 2020 5:43pmWe will be forever grateful that you are not StKilda's list manager. Re: Parker delisted
Kent, Lonie and Hind are all ahead of Parker as has been shown by the games played this year. No huge loss, was a good honest toiler but gave away free kicks and did not get the ball. People complaining about DMac having a contract need to remember he did finish top 10 in the BnF one year.

Re: Parker delisted
Had good skills. Lack of confidence and experience affected his decision making. With some coaching TLC, I think he can do really well. I hope Pickett puts in a good word for him and he ends up at Richmond (were good mates according to an article).

I am more likely to accept the opinion of my medical specialist on a medical matter then my golfing mate.SaintPelican66 wrote: ↑Sat 07 Nov 2020 6:23pmJust because the club makes a decision does not mean it is correct.
